“Holy Grail for sushi lovers”
Reviewed 18 January 2013

As far as sushi are concerned, Paris was always waaaay behind London and New York, not to mention the West Coast (mind you, even Nobu managed to bankrupt in Paris !).

So, for a sushi lover, the choice is usually limited and not very attractive. Against this background Isami stands out and could clearly carry to local crowd at Tokyo fish market.

Some of the reviewers are absolutely right - the friendliness of the service stuff could clearly improve and so could the management of the space. Now, maybe the staff isn't most friendly but i'm going there for fish, not to have a chat; regarding the booking, if they have table available, you can just call 3 mins before and it works.

Now the food: those are among the most fresh, delicious, tasty sushi I ever had and clearly score very high on otherwise limited Parisian sushi scene. We went through usual marinated vegetables and hot tofu (delicious) before mowing to raw fish and some makis, all that prepared in front of you and eaten faster than cut. If you are not a beer fun, saki menu is also very interesting, even if a it pricey (as by the was is the place - we paid about 200 euros for three, cheap as compared to London but on the high end of the price scale for this kind of restaurants.

“Good Sushi, but unfriendly owners ”
Reviewed 1 September 2012 via mobile

Read the reviews here. They are right. Sushi was vey good, but seven euros for a 0.3 beer is simply way too expensive for such a simple restaurant.

The service consist on the owners plus one waitress. The owners were completely unfriendly and were not even willing to explain what the different dishes were. They rushed us through the dinner so that we could leave room for new guest even though the restaurant was still half empty.

We will definitely not come back here.
