The place is a small bistro. The menu is ftraditional french. We had the pate terrine as appetizer. As main course gigot d agneau and a gorgeous fish. The wine lidt is fair . Prices are fair too. The service was great.

We loved the place's atmosphere and to sit outside in a Parisian street.
But the food was really bad, specially after eating before in other restaurants.
There are way much better places to have a dinner around the block.

I was taken here by a local who lives around the corner, and it has to be one of the great spots to eat in Paris. The location is superb but its not a mass tourist venue because you would need to know where it is.
The food, service and atmosphere were second to none if you want the best of what France does best.
If you have only one night in Paris, this has to be a good option. I imagine that you might need to book well in advance.

La Fountaine de Mars is just what we had hoped to find in a Parisian restaurant. The glimpses of the Eiffel Tower from the side streets off the Rue Sainte-Dominique, especially at night when the Tower is illuminated, are romantic and stunning. We arrived at 9.30PM without reservation but the charming English-speaking host offered to seat us by 10PM and we enjoyed a glass of champagne at one of the outside tables while we waited.

The restaurant attracts many locals and of course quite a few tourists. Try to be seated downstairs if possible as the decoration here is just what one would imagine of an old neighborhood Parisian restaurant. Lots of dark wood, brass, red tablecloths and flickering glass globes emitting a dim but welcoming light.

The atmosphere is not at all stuffy and service was excellent. My fiancée opted for the steamed leeks with herbs for first course, followed by grilled top loin of beef in Bearnaise sauce. I chose the bacon and poached egg salad and the breast of chicken in morel mushroom sauce. I can only say that this was the best chicken course I have ever had at any restaurant.

The waiter was happy to recommend a suitable wine pairing and as another reviewer stated did not automatically promote the most expensive wines available. instead he recommended a wine that was cheaper and one he considered a better pairing for our food choices. Vanilla creme brûlée and marinated cherries in schnapps with vanilla ice cream were our delicious desert choices.

Don't eat here because President Obama dined here. Eat here because it is a first class, relaxed, Parisian restaurant where the host and staff are genuinely pleased to have you dine at their establishment.

This is an absolute must. Not only is the location, in the shadow of the Eiffel Tower, absolutely superb, the food and service is faultless. We felt transported into the heart of Paris, surrounded by local businessmen and friends enjoying a long and insanely delicious lunch. A duck breast with polenta and roast chicken with morelles were both particularly memorable, as were the alpine strawberries! Four hours later, we rolled home. Will return.
