Went to this newly refurbished brasserie ( it was redone exactly as it was) today. A table had been booked by friends and it was located near the terrace. The weather was very pleasant. The 42 Euro menu was nothing to write home about. One of us chose à la carte. He had onion soup (so-so he said) and an entrecôte he ordered medium read but came well-done and had to be sent back which was done without a word of apology. It came back a little later properly done. Again no apology or anything. The gratin dauphinois that came with it was not tasty. It had been reheated and was a bit dry. The rest of us were satisfied with but not enthusiastic about their food.the baba au rhum didn't taste great despite being soaked with the amber liquid.
Service was at first very friendly, too friendly perhaps, but that waiter disappeared after the entrecôte incident. The other one, an old timer, managed to utter a few words when he brought dessert. The ice cream ordered by the friend who had ordered the entrecôte came after the other three had already got their desserts: coincidence? Let's not read too much into that.
On the whole, a bit disappointing. It may have to do with the fact that food in those brasseries is prepared outside and delivered vacuum wrapped or boxed and so one shouldn't expect too much. However for such a price one could hope better treatment. However, service could have been better. An apology can go a long way.
