Description: The Bistrot Papillon (Butterfly Bistro) is in Paris' 9th district in a quiet street just a short distance from the hustle and bustle of the main shopping avenues. The restaurant is a favourite among locals and well informed tourists alike. The dcor of the 1900s and good quality, traditional French food make it a sure thing.

“slightly disappointed”
Reviewed 3 February 2013

Restaurant with a very classic and traditional ambiance. Old style waiters, most of the older man, a little bit cynical and with a ‘French’ attitude. We were a company of six, starters and soup were fine, but main dish a disappointment. Fish (turbot), came with a strange tasting potato mash which was to fluid and the duck breast was tough and had little taste. I ordered a bottle of red wine at 24 euro, but found out when I was home (my mistake have to check the bill) that they charged me 47 euro.

“Meh..that's the best”
Reviewed 1 December 2012

Always tricky finding open restaurants at the weekend, so great to find an open one. That's about the best that can be said. Carpeting on the floor. There is nothing worse than restaurants who use carpeting as it never ever looks clean.

Shrimp ginger appetizer was good as was the pate. Pretty standard, and not so sure they actually make the pate themselves once the main course came out. They can't cook. Fish main course was not cooked properly with a tad raw in the center. If you can't get the basics right, get out of the kitchen. Flavors were good. Duck breast main course....never seen a duck breast that shape. Looked as though they were halved. Good flavor on the sauce, but no crisping of the fat.

It's an odd place..they have the some good flavors, but can't cook well.

“Good Bistro real Paris style”
Reviewed 30 November 2012

Bistrot Papillon is near the neuf hotel. We stayed in the hotel (small, trendy, modern, designer, rooms but tastefull). The contrast with this resaurant couldn´t be bigger. A very traditional setting with a chef coming out of the kitchen after cooking his food and discussing it with locals. Traditional but actualy very good. No fancy stuff. It´s a real good suggestion. When we were here some South African rugbyteam supporters were dining here. Everithing went well.
