Enjoyed an excellent dinner here with a colleague. Food was spot on but quite pricey at €130 for two (three courses) before drinks.

During our vacation to Paris, we wanted to take in as much French cuisine as our budget would allow. After thoroughly enjoying dinners at Le Hide and La Cave near our hotel at the Arc de Triomphe, we asked the concierge for a recommendation. We were turned on to P'tit Bouchon Gourmand. Since we hold dear the motto, "In TripAdvisor speramus ," we set out to verify our recommendation. Reviews seemed mixed.

Well. (To borrow from the estimable George Will)

We never actually tasted a single bite of food at P'tit Bouchon Gourmand. After arriving at 9pm for our reservation and finding the restaurant deserted, we were taken to a table where the silverware was stuck to the table glass. Surrounding us were what began as dozens of pictures of circus clowns, but as we sat seemed to grow into hundreds.

The staff, busily attending to their iPhones, didn't bother to bring us, their only customers, a menu for ten or fifteen minutes. Once they did, the laminated menu revealed not a single interesting or inspired dish but rather overpriced staples with little to recommend them. Ignored for a further fifteen minutes without even being offered water or wine, we left and ate at the Parisian version of Applebee's, Chez Clement.

I cannot recommend against this place enough, particularly when such lovely restaurants are only a short walk away. When walking past it later, we noticed that the bar next door (decorated in the same style so presumably a part of the same operation) seemed to be the moneymaker as it was quite busy. The restaurant? Better to go to McDonald's across the street.

Reasonably priced fixed dinners. Too much food which one doesn't say about Parisian restaurants too often. Found ourselves crowded into the smallish space in a somewhat noisy and warm environment. Attention of the staff was divided and haphazard. Food was interesting but not stunning. I became violently ill later that night which I suspect was caused by the almost raw scallops. Who knows. This place was recommended by several alleged tourist blogs but I felt it may have been orchestrated.

So, we had been travelling around Europe for a while and on our way to the hotel we were stayn at we would pass by this restaurant which had its share of activity every night. On our last night in Paris we decided to give it a try (never be so adveturous on your last night as ir will mark your vacation for a long time to come). At first we were positive about the place, clean, nicely decorated and the owner even greeted us and promptly gave us a table. Once we were settled and decided to order we were met by the fabled arrogance which has plagued so many parisienne stories. Since we had been eating out for a couple of weeks, we were kind of full and had ben sharing dishes and decided to share here too.The owner who took our order was blatenly angry that we wanted to share and said something to the likes of ..."Thers isss no chering i moi restoirant" and left our table...he was tardly replaced by an ordinary waiter who took our "shared" request. I remember the food beng just ok...marred by an experience that overshdows the culinay experience.
