We went to this restaurant without reservation, but were lucky to find a table. The place is well frequented, which explains also the ambient noise. We shared a spicy beef Carpaccio as a starter and had scallops with saffron rice and a steamed turbot with vegetables as main dishes. Everything was very tasty and nicely presented. The wine by the glass was served in small portions, but otherwise the service was very friendly and efficient despite the large number of patrons. The meal was rounded-up with a “gourmet coffee”, an espresso accompanied with a variety of small pastries. The price for this meal for two: 1 starter, two main dishes, 1 desert and 2 small glasses of wine was 112 Euro, i.e. rather on the expensive side.

The chef of the restaurant, Sebastian, is the God! He creates something amazing from regular products! I can say I didn’t know the taste of beef before. And foe grax. And tuna steak! We found this place on tripadvisor and we were quite skeptical about glowing accounts, moreover the name of the restraurant was “CAFE sud” and design inside was pretty simple. But when we tasted starters, and then main course and dessert, we were so surprised. Next day we went to 2 Michelin stars chef in Mandarin hotel, we spent twice more for dinner but it didn’t cost it and of course next day we came back to Sebastian and enjoyed beautiful dinner. Best awards! I believe Sebastian one day will be awarded with Michelin star! He is fantastic!

We stayed at a nearby hotel and had noticed the queue the evening before, and decided to give it a shot. Arriving at 8pm the place had some free tables and after getting one, we sat down to study the menu. The waiter was quite quick to come for the drinks order - but the disappeared: it took 30 mins to get a bottle of wart and some wine. The starter arrived timely - so did the mains. The plates were of appropriate portions and well made - from that perspective the place is good. Looking around at the other guests it was clear that something was wrong with the service. So, if you have time, are in the quartier and want some decent food, don't pass this place but give it a try.

Impressed by their inefficiency. We booked a table for 9pm and still didn't have it at 10pm. We were told to wait only 5-10 minutes. What a waste of time!

Stopped by Café Sud, a very nice quiet restaurant, for a late dinner as found my favorite Foie Gras Poele on the menu (not found so often in Paris these days!). Very good wine! Service excellent, foie gras super! Will return!
