The location is great - 5 minutes walk to the Metro Line 4 and a short walk to Montmartre. Clignancourt fleamarket, as well as other markets, is just a short walk away. The apartment suited our needs as two single people perfectly in terms of space and layout. There is, however, an issue around cleanliness. The fittings are tired and anything but "luxurious". We spent a lot of time cleaning ourselves. The advertised photos of the kitchen did not quite match the reality!
There was very little information to help us with our stay. In other apartments we received folders of detailed information about the apartment, surrounding areas and the city itself.
Important to note that the owner was kind, gracious and accommodating regarding my arrival and departure dates and we feel she will be improving this listing soon. It is my understanding, altho I have no proof, that she owns the entire building and rents most of the units to tourists.
The apartment certainly did not live up to our expectations for a "luxury building." Since we are from the US perhaps our expectations were too high. Before renting we asked the owner as to whether the apartment had a stove and oven and she said "it has a full kitchen", let me tell you that 2 small burners and a microwave did not a "full kitchen" make! We had planned to cook several meals when we ended up not being able to do.
Upon arrival I was presented with a list of items to do before I left, including such things as clean the toilet. Sorry, we are not pigs but tenants and I was not your maid. Owner also requested that we not wear shoes indoors to keep the apartment clean, when, in our personal opinion, neither the apartment nor the building were even close to clean, although the photos made it look great. We would have left if we could have, but after a night my understanding was that there was no refund possible so we stayed. I did take pictures before I left and will post on TA soon. Beds were awful (double bed folded in the middle and two twin beds were hard as army cots) so I slept on the sofa in the living room while hubby slept in the double. TV but no English speaking channel, which would have eased the pain. The WiFi worked great and was a life-saver. Lighting throughout apartment was barely adequate.
The produce street market nearest this listing was awful...not even close to the other markets we have been to previously. Not a particularly great part of town but we felt safe and had fun exploring how many average Parisians live. If we had a do-over we would stay closer to the tourist areas because we spent a lot on Uber getting back and forth...yes, we should have taken the metro but at 73 we opted for convenience.
Wish I had more positive things to say but this pretty much ruined our trip.
