Description: Since 1832 the Pharamond is a unique place. The décor, today listed as en historical building, is an amazing mix of wood, painted mirrors and molten glass. The Chef will be pleased to let you taste his food, in between nostalgic winks and tasty new dishes. You may reserve one of five rooms (4 to 50 people) for your professional or private events. In addition, on a sunny day, you can enjoy the beautiful greenery and very quiet terrace.

We had a group of 7 - including 2 young teens - for a birthday dinner in our last night in Paris. The menu is accessible and affordable. Most of us had the prix fixe menu - which allows for a lot of flexibility. The wine list is really the star here - dozens of very reasonably priced choices. we had two very nice Bordeaux for around $45US each. the atmosphere is really nice as well. probably not the best for the hard core gouramand - but for a good sized family group it was perfect.

This restaurant is in one of my favorite areas in Paris (near Les Halles). If you are looking for very French French food, add this restaurant to the list!

Ambiance - the interior is quite lovely with a nice upscale feel, but we chose to sit in the outdoor patio because of the lovely summer weather. The patio has a small, transparent divider separating you from the street, so you can still people-watch with a lower noise level than you would find on the street.

Food - As mentioned above, the food is very French (tripes, andouillette, boudin are some of the choices) with what seemed like a Norman flair (cider and calvados featured in some of the menu choices). The list of choices is not endless, but the variety should suit most groups of diners. Everything was presented beautifully.

Service - Friendly from start to finish. The food came a bit more quickly than we had expected, but that is a minor quibble.

When in Paris, I regularly have lunch at Le Pharamond. The décor is fun and cozy, a throw back to the Belle Époque and earlier, with some interesting photographs in the upper rooms. One can easily picture 1850's men bringing their paramour in one of the small salons, the two larger rooms a perfect backdrop for a Manet or Renoir painting.
The service is pleasant with a lot of bantering with the staff, none of that snotty attitude that can be found in a lot of Parisian restaurants. The food is very good and their prices reasonable.
Le Pharamond is located one of the oldest of Paris neighbourhoods, close to Les Halles, the Beaubourg/Pompidou museum and the Saint Eustache church.

We had high expectations when entering this beautiful old restaurant with a history dating back to 1832. Apart from an extensive wine list the menu however was unexceptional and the only special main dish was no longer available when we arrived. We waited so long for service that we decided to skip starter and proceed to mains. The main dishes took over an hour to arrive. When they did, the chicken was a miniscule string piece of carcass, and the entrecôte ordered rare arrived over cooked. The two pave de cabillaud's were seriously undercooked and as were the vegetables which swam in a brown fishy muck. Most plates were left untouched and taken away without question - I expect the waiters of which there were only two in a big restaurant - were used to food being returned. I see from an earlier review that the writer said it was the worst food encountered in France. Certainly the worst restaurant meal I can ever recall eating. So many great options in Paris - so sorry I chose to got to this tired old tourist trap.

Me and my boyfriend were here in June 2013.
Really cozy restaurant with a lovely atmosphere with their 1900-decor still remaining. We were nicely welcomed and got a table on the first floor. We had a very nice waitress that gave us excellent wine suggestions and treated us both very respectful. I took the scallops which were delicious!
I recommend taking three course dinner.

Our crème brûlée was just slightly burnt and we pointed it out after we were done and she said only that it was because the chefs were rushed due to a large dinner party upstairs. Why not just make it good when you still know about it? We were in no hurry..
