This was one of the best meals we had in Paris. First off, finding the restaurant is tricky as at night, there is no indication it even is a restaurant - it looks like a food store...

Once you go in, and then down, the food and service are superb. Not only is the food great tasting, the plating is also very nice and the overall experience is quite memorable.

We thought this was an undiscovered little gem so we just HAD to go. Imagine my disappointment when I opened TA to write this review to learn that all the tourists already know about it! Oh well. We "discovered" other places. The grocery store in front is by far the highlight of the whole experience, and we bought provisions for a great picnic here. Don't miss the marinated artichokes. But dinner was so-so. The menu is limited and uninspiring. The antipasto was ok, but we got better charcuterie at the Casino (supermarket). The other tables got good service and were in and out quickly, but we were ignored for long periods of time and after waiting a very long time for the check, learned by eaves-dropping that we just go up front where the waiter rings up the bill from memory. We literally ate our way through France eating rich and unusual foods for the 8 prior days with no complaints and no intestinal disturbances, but we were both uncomfortable after this meal.

Saw the reviews on trip advisor when looking for somewhere to eat on a visit to the Eiffel Tower We were tiring of all the meat offerings on French menus and were interested in a change. We took an early tour of the tower and got here at noon. The deli counter was bustling and had we not known about the secret stairs to the restaurant we never would have spotted it. We gestured to the sign and were told it wasn't opened yet. Cinq minutes. We dutifully waited and were finally escorted down. We were rewarded for our persistence by a delicious meal. Mixed salad with grilled vegetables and smoky mozzarella and the best focaccia I have ever tasted. I don't go out of my way for focaccia because I usually find it a bit dry but this was moist and dipped in their olive oil and balsamic dressing - heavenly. Then Parmesan risotto for two. The service was lovely and the restaurant has a homey feel. Ordering a la carte was much more pricey (66e for the above plus coffee) rather than the prix fixe menu would have been (19e per person) but we were so happy with our meal we would do it just the same if we returned.

Even the taxi driver didn't know there was a restaurant under this little shop! Not flashy decor but you'll get a warm reception and wonderful food in this little restaurant. This is the fifth time of eating in this restaurant over the last 6 years and it won't be the last, it never fails to impress. Simple, quality food done well is the talent of the Italians, but this chef manages to combine the fussiness of French cooking with the simplicity of Italian. This time we had mozzarella and brescola to start, the chef's risotto which was rich and the linguine with clams (vongole, the menu isn't available in English) which was divine. With a beautiful bottle of red wine, the tirimisu for desert which is incredibly light and a few bottles of water the bill came to just over 100 euros for 2 of us. We finished the evening with a wander over to the Eiffel Tower and a trip to the top just after sunset which was stunning. All round a really lovely evening.
