you need to know this place and its couscous. it's tiny, so if you go as a couple you might be squeezed against another couple, but that can be fun, in my opinion. be patient and friendly with the guy there - he's awesome, and will flip from seeming cold and unsociable to telling you tall tales. as mentioned in another review, he's definitely a character. if you're a large group, just decide what you want quickly - it's a busy place, and if you miss your ordering window you might be waiting as he makes his rounds, unless you're not in a hurry (preferable state when dining in paris). le petit bleu is a neighborhood institution. those who know, are in on a secret so delicious it keeps us coming back for more. my favorite is either the couscous merguez (sausage) or the couscous royale, which has meatballs and other meat in it too. The salads are good - they do a feta one that i like a lot.

I have never seen a restaurant small like that. Maximum 10 seats but... the food and specially their speciality the couscous is palatable. One of my top 3 of couscous I have eaten so far. The veggie, the meet are cooked perfectly and mixed together to make the dish mouth-watering. You will see the owner is a personality. Strong character but so nice. Also after your dinner you can easily walk around it's a really nice area. The location is ideal for lover since it's right down Montmartre.
I suggest you call them to take a reservation it's everyday full.

If you want to experience some very good shrimp...gambas! this is the place to go. A plate of 8 huge and spicy flavored shrimp, crispy fresh spicy round sliced fries, and a simple salad all for 15 euro! Le Petit Bleu is one of our favorite places to enjoy the diverse cuisine of Paris. Be prepared to get messy!

Le Petit Bleu is a really small restaurant nested next to the impressive and charming stairs which lead to the hill of Montmartre. Don't expect a cosy and high standard service diner if you go there, but more a warm and nicely messy experience of great north African food. It is always packed (the owner often asks people to squeeze up in order to save some space for newcoming customers), noisy and truly pleasant. Sometimes, you even have to take a beer at the cafe in front of the restaurant untill a table is finaly available. But trust me, it is worth the waiting. The food is really excellent: the meat and the vegetables are extremely fresh and the portions are huge. I have eaten there a dozen of times (I used to live just a the corner of the street), and I have never been disapointed. Two adivses: choose the mix grill, it is the best. But avoid the Algerian wine that the owner always try to sell, and take instead a french Cote du Rhone or a Bordeaux. Oh, and did I mention that the prices are really reasonable? There is no meal above 10 euros. It is also a great place to meat people since everybody is really close to eachother. I truly recomand it!
