We stumbled across this gazebo and read the name as "temple of love". I heard from the palace it was a spot where Marie Antoinette liked to visit. We also stumbled to it while walking to Marie Antoinette's house. But we didn't realize the "temple" was this simple.
But it was beautiful. =)

We actually stumbled upon this walking through the gardens. If you're a couple, make it fun and pose like the statue for a photo.

Just beautiful. A stone, Greek gazebo in a beautiful garden--and a beautiful sculpture. Did I say it was beautiful?

Beautiful building in the middle of the Versailles estate. You can almost imagine the King and Queen having a dinner out there.

Locating the temple was a bit difficult because some of the gardens were blocked off for pruning.

A bit of trivia for you. Marie Antoinette was conscious about the cost of building a chateau during the revolutionary days, so she opted to buy an already pre-made temple from a duchess to keep the cost down. Of course, she received criticism for being cheap, and simultaneously, criticism for spending money. However it is, 400 years later, it still stands and it is magnificent. The statue of cupid in the middle is well endowed.
