The apartment was very nice and cosy, and had everything you needed. The train station is literally across the road as are the canals if you like exploring. A few minutes walk away from the main square with cafes and restuarants and if you like to stay up a little later an irish pub in a couple of minutes walk between the square and apartment. 1 mile walk from the medieval city if you like your history, shops and restaurants that stay open a little longer. If you like your walking there are more canal pathways than you can fit in, but I highly recommend the GR36 footpath from the medieval city down to the lake and beyond into the mountains its a long walk but worth it, interesting terraine, beautiful views and all the butterflies in the world.
Good location - very short walk from station, will be even better once the extensive work on the square has been completed. Supermarket and restaurants just around corner and even more a few blocks down the road. Easy walk to the beautiful old city, made easier by not having to trundle luggage up the hill.
Michael was very helpful with check-in. We were delayed by the French train cancellations, but he arranged for his friend to be waiting for us with the keys and explanations of how things work.
Great kitchen, lovely spacious living area, comfortable bed, excellent pillows and the unexpected bonus of a washing machine and clothes airer. Kitchen tap needs some work (but quite useable) and there was a smell of drains in the bathroom. Michael explained that he is still upgrading the property so these should be dealt with soon.
Michael (the owner) had recently acquired the property and we were Michael's first tenants. He was so, so helpful, even picking us up from the airport and returning us there at the end of our stay. He was only too pleased to help us with any queries and local tips. A lovely man.
The apartment was well equipped and we lacked for nothing. Micheal had even provided some fresh coffee for the cafetiere and a jar of decaff if you're so inclined.
The room was very comfortable and we slept well, this possibly induced by the evenings dining and wining.
The location is good, a bit of a walk to the old city but Canal du Midi and the Train station a short walk. The Celt (pub) is just down the road and the Place Carnot just a tad further with it's host of restaurants and bars. We tended to go to Le Longchamp but we went a good Chinese very near the apartment.
This beautiful apartment was clean, welcoming, tastefully furnished and situated in the centre - the perfect location. It has everything we needed and was very comfortable and pleasant. Carcassonne is a beautiful town and this apartment is the perfect place to stay whilst visiting the area.
I would definitely recommend this well-kept apartment to anybody and would be very happy to return here when coming back to Carcssonne again.
Had a wonderful week here! The apartment is clean, homely, exceptionally comfortable and has absolutely everything you need for your stay. It's the perfect place to base yourself to explore the beautiful surroundings and enjoy some fantastic places to eat and drink. Couldnt have asked for more and will definitely be booking again!
The apartment is perfectly situated in the centre of modern town Carcassonne which was exactly what where we wanted to stay as I can't drive so being near all amenities was a must! On Saturdays, there is a big market selling local produce which is where we did most of our food shopping, along with Monoprix (a convenience shop nearby) and of course there are plenty of boulangeries for morning baguettes and croissants!
The apartment is very well equipped and is very comfortable so we ate quite a few meals there but there is a abundance of restaurants and bars to choose from, all very close.
La Cite is about a 15 minute walk away through the town and across the OId bridge which makes for a very scenic walk! And the canal du Midi is a stone throw away (as is the train station if travelling by train).
If travelling via Ryanair (into Carcassonne airport) I don't expect a taxi would cost more than 15€ but we got the navette bus which runs between the airport and town centre. Conveniently the stop in the town centre is virtually opposite the road to the apartment!
A true gem in the centre of Carcassonne - perfect location and a real home from home kind of apartment!
