“Lovely spot, friendly and authentic”
Reviewed 27 September 2013

This is a great little restaurant near a well higher up in the walled city and satisfyingly distant from the main tourist traps of wonderful Carcassonne. We had a lovely table outside and were made very welcome by all of the staff - our dog in particular was well looked after, receiving a bowl of water on arrival and regular attention by the staff!

The menu has an excellent choice of hot meals and cold options like salads and sandwiches and there is plenty for kids to choose too. My wife had a fresh and delicious nicoise salad served in a kind of pancake bowl while I had a rich and satisfying cassoulet. There was a good selection of drinks too, including wines both from the local area and further afield. An excellent choice for lunch and a lovely place to take a rest from the sightseeing!

“Great little bistro!”
Reviewed 28 June 2013

Visiting the old town in Carcassones, we stumbled across this great little bistro. It's towards the top of the old town so it's a bit calmer / quieter than the other restaurants we passed in the main square. Food was very tasty and plentiful (we both had steak and chips). Service was quick and attentive. Restaurant decor is nice and it feels very cosy. Cost wise, this place is good value for money. We loved it, and if we are ever back in Carcassones, we will return for sure.

“Good food surprisingly God value”
Reviewed 6 September 2012

Tucked away in the busy Cite this is surprisingly good. We all had good straightforward meals at great prices (given the touristy location). Service was very friendly and polite. A great atmosphere if sitting outside in the bustle and bustle. Would return if.uk was there again.

“Excellent lunch spot in La Cite, Carcassonne!”
Reviewed 22 July 2012

Believe it or not this was our best meal in Carcassonne over the weekend - note we dined in Au Jardin de la Tour and L'Artichaut and this was the best all round for service, food quality and price. After a morning touring around La Cite we searched out a lunch spot within the medievel city. My husband enjoyed duck and frites followed by vanilla ice cream, I ate Salad with jambon and melon followed by sorbet plus house red wine. Cost of the lunch €40.00, which included the taxes etc., The restaurant was constantly busy but service was always attentive, not hurried and the quality and presentation of the dishes coming out of the kitchen were consistently of a high standard. We will return to Carcassonne and will definately have lunch at la Trauquet again! This restaurant is definately worth seeking out within La Cite - do not be persuaded to eat anywhere else!

“Great value - good food”
Reviewed 24 July 2011

Had the set menu here for lunch - couldn't fault it. The house red wine was a bit rustic, but white was acceptable. Busy restaurant, friendly service. Very enjoyable couple of hours eating and people watching in this bustling square.
