“Spacious peaceful townhouse in excellent location”
Reviewed 18 August 2017 for a stay in August 2017

We found this townhouse in an excellent location within easy walking distant of Carcassonne castle and not far from the new town. Jason was helpful and the whole booking process was easy, he was very obliging with any questions. We hired a car and had plenty of place to visit which were steeped in history and the villages were beautiful.

Lake Cavayere was only 10mins by car and can also be reached by bus or even walk there and bus back which we enjoyed. My 14yr old loved the 'Go Ape' type course and water park.

“Great location...within touching distance of le cite walls”

Located on a quiet street, the house is within walking distance of both the old and new town. The house is well equipped, clean and spacious. The roof terrace in the early evening is a sun trap and is a great place to relax with a book and a glass of wine!
The house has a picnic basket which we used once or twice, but if we visited again we would bring a cool bag as food soon got warm in the basket.
Located at the end of the street is a lovely wine shop, some small bars/restaurants and a couple of convenience stores. Lac de la Cavayere is only a 15 minutes bus ride away and the beaches provide an opportunity for a swim or a play in the water park.
There a some good local restaurants (a couple that are Michelin starred) but one for good food at a good price is Comte Roger in le cite.
Added bonus - the owner picked us up from the airport and dropped us off.

“Fantastic in everyway”
Reviewed 4 August 2015 for a stay in July 2015

Having driven from Co Durham England it was great to find this property in a fantastic location and a feeling of being at home, even when we arrived late the keys were available in a safe location. Jason has done a great job in renovating it in a modern style and excellent kitchen, he has kept the exterior in a traditional French style. All the rooms are large with shutters on the windows to keep it cool during the very warm days we experienced. There is a choice of bath or shower and all other comforts expected of a home. Although the roof terrace was an excellent place to sit on an evening to cool off, it doesn't have a view of the Cite walls and access is tight by a spiral staircase. Free and good wifi available which helped in locating amenities. Its location is ideal for either the Cite and its narrow streets and great bars and cafe's or Place Carnot (square) in the main town where entertainment and a variety of restaurants and bars were located. The first week we ate in on an evening the local supermarkets are on the outskirts of the town and therefore you need a car, the local shops offer a good range of food and drink if required. The fireworks on Bastile day was awesome and taking a picnic to the river. The second week we ate out and would recommend many of the restaurants in the Cite and around the square. If you like a proper beer I would recommend the Pelforth Brune, also the Irish bar, and the Castelnaudary cassoulet. Having the car was a real asset, the Cathers trail and scenery was fantastic and a trip to Carcassonne Plage was worth it on the hottest day. With its sandy beach, warm lake, inflatable activities and peddle boats only 4 miles away. All in all a great holiday.

“Perfect pad to relax in and explore the area”
Reviewed 3 August 2015 for a stay in July 2015

Just back from a week staying in this wonderful town house. The rooms are large and airy, and everything was spotlessly clean - making us feel relaxed and at home from the moment we walked in. Jason was very helpful answering questions when we booked and Inga was equally helpful with suggestions - and stocking the fridge with a few essentials! - when we arrived.
Location: perfect for exploring locally on foot and further afield. We rented a car that we used about 50% of the time for trips out to see the Cathar Castles and other attractions; there is handy parking a couple of mins walk away. The train station is a 15/20 min walk and had we stayed another week we would definitely have taken a couple of trips further out. From the town house it's approx 5 mins walk up to the Citadel - with plenty to do and great restaurants.
At the end of the road there are 6+ very good local restaurants, a patisserie and 2 local shops for essentials.
Opening the door to the terrace and the bedroom windows created a lovely breeze at night even on the very hot days.
We really felt like the place was our own for the week and reading the other comments in the guest book - many people have enjoyed a similar, relaxing experience there. Very, very highly recommended.

“Fab atmospheric location”
Reviewed 26 April 2015 for a stay in April 2015

Spent 2 weeks here. Location cldnt be better - at the foothills of the Cite. Short walk across Pont Vieux to the Bastide. All mod cons provided - which was great as we were travelling as a family. Carcassonne is not expensive but with the thrice weekly fresh food market providing amazing food and the house being so great we ate in more often than out! Jason was perfect host - accommodated ryanair's random change of our dates in/out, picked us up and
Dropped us off at the airport. Amazing to be staying in such an old house which has been comfortably and tastefully kitted out and maintained by Jason. Neighbourhood epicure shop is a stones throw away for morning baguette and pastry. Wifi was perfect. All in all a great stay in a great house. Cldnt ask for more.

“Beautiful apartment in a great location”
Reviewed 12 April 2015 for a stay in April 2015

One of the nicest places we've ever stayed! Really large apartment, almost at the foot of the castle and only a few minutes walk from the river. It was spotlessly clean and well equipped with everything we needed, including two bikes, which we used to go along the canal (a lovely day out if the weather is good). I would certainly recommend this place if you're planning a trip here. The terrace is also a great place to relax with a glass of wine after a long bike-ride! Jason was a great host, who picked us up from the station and was always available to answer any questions we had. Full marks all round!

“Five Amazing Months in Carcassonne”
Reviewed 28 March 2015 for a stay in November 2014

We stayed here from the 1st of November 2014 until the end of March 2015 and Jason Carr was the perfect host and landlord. The apartment is very well furnished with all the modern conveniences you could wish for and the location next to La Cité and close to the train station meant we could use it as a base to explore southern France and Spain. When Jason learned we were looking to buy bicycles he instead loaned us two at no charge. Whenever anything broke in the apartment it was fixed immediately which made living here very relaxing. If we are ever in the area again we would not hesitate to rent this apartment or one of any others that Jason owns. We had a blast.
