parking: offsite, preferred parking but it takes 10mn to roll your luggage inside the town to your hotel. That's true for most places there.
AC: none, we opened windows, but it got us noise
Room: not very big but homy and functional. We liked it.
Noise: outside was noisy, especially with windows opened for temperature. We didn't sleep so well as a result.
bed: good
internet: worked well
staff: very nice lady who works in the store next door (check what her hours are, she isn't there 24/7 to check in). She got us al setup. Note that there are only 3 rooms and it's cash only.
breakfast: you have everything to make breakfast in your room. It's quite well equipped.

Staying in Le Grand Puits was definitely a good choice. Recommended for those on a budget, but want to stay within the city walls of Carcassonne. My family of four adults, speaking almost no french, enjoyed meeting Nicole and owner, who was very friendly and warm. Breakfast is self serve, so you can eat anytime. Has eggs, juice, cereals, coffee, and a few other unique breakfast items that are included in the price of the room.

You simply can't argue with the location, staying anywhere in this city is an absolute treat, something we will remember forever. We stayed in the blue room with the extra apartment room for an additional fee that really allowed our two adult couples to have 2 seperate rooms. This would be a fun place to take a family to with children.

The only negative we noted was a slight "musty" smell in the room, though after a few minutes we hardly noticed it anymore. There was wifi but it was spotty for us, but allowed us to access the internet as needed.

Overall we recommend staying here, as the location doesn't get any better and Nicole was a wonderful hostess. This location was recommended by Rick Steves as a budget option, and he was right!

While there is nothing fancy about this place, it was absolutely PERFECT for our visit to Carcassonne! We wanted our kids to have the opportunity to stay inside the city walls, but did not want to pay a fortune or have to rent two rooms. Our orange room at Chambres le Grand Puits contained two twin beds, a trundle, and one double; a hot plate, small refrigerator, and basic kitchen essentials, plus breakfast items such as eggs, cereal, milk and juice among other things. Everything was clean and worked perfectly--shower, toilet, heat--which isn't always a given in these older buildings. We had plenty of room, and it was in a quiet location. I was worried about the parking and unloading, but we arrived after dark and so were able to drive up to the front door of the hotel and drop off our bags, then my husband parked the car in the moat space designated for guests staying at hotels within the walls. The parking lot is actually not far at all from the hotel, so when we left my husband took one load down and then we all just rolled our suitcases out of the city easily. I couldn't have been more pleased. I would definitely stay here again and heartily recommend it to anyone who is looking for a great value place to stay.

Room Tip: We enjoyed having one of the 2nd floor rooms with a balcony.

We found this place in our Rick Steves guidebook and were incredibly happy. Nicole manages the place and agreed to let us stay for one night. She is a wonderful woman who also runs the dress shop downstairs. This amazing hotel is located in the walls of Carcassonne with spacious rooms, food supplied for your breakfast, a balcony and an experience in the old historic walls of an incredible town - did I mention we stayed inside Carcassonne? Parking was really easy, and we were able to reserve by email. We stayed in the Orange Room on the top floor that had two twins and a double bed for four of us, a dining area and a kitchenette all in the same room. There was a large bathroom, and a private balcony. I loved the room! We enjoyed the balcony in the evening with a glass of wine, we made our own breakfast - a delightful treat after eating out for 2 weeks, and we stayed inside the walls of Carcassonne. Rick had recommended this place and it was awesome. We did tour the Blue Room on the first floor which is also large with a private balcony and looked equally comfortable. I would give this 6 stars if I could.

We can only agree with most of the other reviews of this magical B&B. The location is superb (right in the centre of the medieval La Cité), the rooms we had were roomy and well appointed and the welcome we received was delightfully warm and friendly. One of our rooms had a charming courtyard and the other a rooftop terrace with an excellent view. Our tiny kitchenettes were well-stocked with all the necessary food and equipment. This is the very antithesis of a standard chain hotel. Our experience was thoroughly enjoyable and, indeed, unforgettable for all the right reasons. We look forward to our next visit.

Room Tip: Our ground floor room had a large and leafy courtyard with table and chairs. The top floor room had...

Our family of 5 thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Orange room. Clean,well-equipped with everything we needed (including wifi ), great mattresses, a spacious shower and a priceless view, all in the heart of la Cite. A unique and thoroughly charming location, which allowed us to wander the almost deserted streets in the evening, without the daytime bustle. The very modest price makes this a real find for people who are interested in something other than generic chain motel accommodation.

We stayed in the Orange room for 2 nights and I was taken aback by how cavernous the room was. There are beds for 4 with a large bathroom, small kitchenette, dining area, and a lovely terrace with table and chairs. Our wonderful host, Nicole, keeps the kitchen stocked with basics so we could make our own breakfast. And in venturing down to the old town we found the wonderful bakery Croc en Stoc where we could pick up delicious quiches and salads to go for delightful little dinners on our terrace, as well as fresh croissants for our morning petit dejeuner -- at half the price and better quality than any of the sandwich shops within the old city walls. The room is basic and the whole place in need of a modern update, but it is clean and very comfortable and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. I would absolutely stay here again.
