We stayed at this hotel before taking a weeks holiday on the canal du Midi. The medieval town of Carcassone is truly amazing but a biit like Disneyworld due to the number of tourists during the day! The Hotel de La Cite is within the old town walls and has its own garden with a view of the turrets that make the city so famous. This is an expensive hotel but it is pretty amazing in both its grandeur and its ambiance. We did not eat in the hotel as the restaurant looked a little stuffy and expensive but the city was full of restaurants where you could sit outside and enjoy the ambiance whilst eating the local speciallity, Confit de Canard! EXCELLENT!!
The bedroom was of a high standard with a small balcony which overlooked the garden, the turrets and the newer city of Carcassone. Great hotel if you want to splash out. Just a tip. Cars are not allowed in the old city so you leave it outside and the hotel ferries you in by means of a minibus.More
