“A great B&B with fantastic view of the medieval city”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 July 2014

This B&B is situated on the river Aude, right opposite the medieval city, rewarding the guests with magnificent views of the walled city day or night. You can park your car in designated parking spaces adjacent to a riverside park. This location is superb, everywhere is just a 10 minute walk away. In one direction, you can walk along the river, cross over a pedestrian only medieval bridge and on the medieval city. In the other direction, you can walk into the town centre to the main square surrounded by restaurants. We stayed for three days and tried a different restaurant, recommended by Patrick the host, every day. They were all very good.

We had a room on the ground floor. It was very spacious with a nice bathroom and shower. Breakfast was served every day on the terrace with the magnificent view. The breakfast consisted of granola with fruit and yoghurt, juice and fresh bread with jams. It was all served very cheerfully by Patrick and Bre. They also offered great suggestion as to where to go and where to eat. Patrick and Bre were always hospitable and put everyone at ease. They are from Ireland, so you will not need to practice your french either.

There is much to see in this area and Patrick can provide you with many suggestions. Of course don't miss seeing the citadel that you are looking at over breakfast. Another favourite of mine is the ruined Cathar castles at Lastours.

Staying here you just can't go wrong.

By not being within the old fortress, nor in the "new" town, but within walking distance of each, and the river and Canal du Midi we had a wonderful base from which to explore the city over three days, at times that suited us - and the weather! For restaurant recommendations, follow Patrick's advice. We had unusual and delicious evening meals.

Great location, lovely room, wonderful terrace breakfast with a view of the medival city!!! Patrick and Bree are super friendly, helpful hosts. My husband hurt his ankle and Patrick even drove us to the train station. The rail strike was on and without his help in French we wouldn't have solved our dilemma of how to get to Barcelona on time. His restaurant suggestions were also really good! Would definitely stay here again.

Perfect place to stay in Carcassonne, close to the old city and the low city. The view is as good as it looks - take time to enjoy the best light in the evening with a glass of wine on the terrace. Room comfortable and breakfast was VG. Patrick was helpful and we appreciated his recommendations. Stay here.

Great place to stay in Carcassonne. The view of the old city, the park and the river from Patrick’s terrace is amazing. Plenty of free parking; good secure wifi. Patrick is Irish so it was refreshing to have fairly detailed (English) conversation about the area. We had a nice sized room on the ground floor, and everything was as we expected and more. Would definitely recommend this guest house.

One is tempted to ask whether one can over use superlatives because, if one can, then this place would be a candidate. Clean, comfortable, excellent facilities and, although it is situated in a quiet street, it is within easy strolling distance of the "old" and the "new" cities. The terrace provides an imposing view of the battlements of "La Cité" as one eats one's breakfast. The host, Patrick, is charming, informative and helpful. Thoroughly recommended!

Spent a couple of nights at the Carcassonne guest house which is perfectly positioned to view the old walled city from the terrace. The old walled city is just a short walk away and
so is the so called 'new' city which really is not that new! Patrick the host and Bree were so helpful and accommodating it made the our stay very enjoyable. Nothing was too much trouble. Parking was easy right outside the B&B. Breakfast on the terrace. The rooms were very comfortable and well equipped.
Patrick also recommended a great local restaurant serving the best authentic local dish of cassoulet.
We read a previous review that said there were too many rules but we didn't find this at all just a very helpful guided tour on arrival. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend to anyone wanting to stay in Carcassonne. Go ahead and book away.
