we arrived early but were given our room straight away - and we were upgraded to a room with a view. This was definitely worth having and I would recommend booking one of these rooms even though you get the same view from the restaurant and pool. The hotel is well situated for visiting both the old and newer parts of town.
We used the pool and it was very pleasant although rather small.
The food in the restaurant was very good but on the night we dined there was a staffing problem and we had a very long wait to be served - we were not even given water. The reception staff were aware of this and offered free parking in compensation. We felt this was very fair.

Room Tip: book a room with a view of the medieval city

Stayed here in june 2014, from the moment we stepped through the doors of the three crowns we knew we would have a good holiday. The staff & Beatrice were so helpful, they gave us maps, booked taxi's, booked & recommended restaurants, got train times....nothing was too much trouble.
The room was good but not a lot of storage space ( no shelves or idrawers)there was a fridge which was useful. Clean towels & bedding everyday.Marvellous view of the medieval cite. A safe deposit box was available at reception. The breakfast was very good, fresh fruit, cheese, ham, eggs, three types of lovely bread etc
As well as a hot plate. With a fantastic view of the cite from the restaurant, the only down side was the meal in the evening ...we only had the one, there was little choice in fact there were only two items that were avalable. We had the steak it was well cooked but half of mine was fat...I mentioned this to the waitress & she said this is how "we eat it"....well if I ask for steak I expect to eat steak....this was the most expensive meal we had in Carcassonne ....shame really!

Room Tip: Ask for a panaramic view..well worth it.

We had a twin room at the back which was clean but small the bathroom and toilet had no fan or windows. The carpet had a large stain not what I would expect from a 4 star at all. The staff were very pleasant and the views from the bar were fantastic.

Room Tip: Front rooms have a good view and balcony

Have just come back after 3 nights in this hotel and whilst we enjoyed its location it was a little lacking ... The view we had was of apartment building and not the beautiful view of the walked city ... I was not aware you had to book the view .. No tea making facilities and a very expensive machine in reception if u want something to drink at times when the restaurant wasn't open ... Staff were friendly and helpful and got us jugs of hot water for our own tea bags ... The price we paid for this was not significantly cheaper than the best western in the city so would probably stay there next time

The hotel is conveniently located for the medieval and modern cities. We stayed in April 2014 and the room was comfortable and clean with a good bathroom with shower. The room has a small balcony with a view of the medieval city and foot bridge over the river. Staff were very helpful and had good English. Beatrice, the receptionist on our first night, was very helpful in ringing a nearby restaurant to check the availability of veggie food, which made up for the fact that the hotel's own restaurant could not provide us with a veggie meal that night.
The TV in the room had BBC world and CNN but not BBC Prime, so no films for late evening and no DVD facility.
Rooms are quiet with no disturbance from outside.
The bus from the airport stops in the square very close to this hotel and the bus driver happily directed us to the hotel. It is just €5 on the bus back to the airport from the same bus stop, via the medieval city.

Room Tip: Balconies are larger on the upper floors. Ask for a room overlooking the medieval city.

We are just back from five days in Carcassonne, staying in room 512 of Hotel des Trois Couronnes. We had a spacious room with a brilliant view of the Cite and also the Pyrennes. The room was lovely and clean with clean towels and bedding every day. We had a lovely balcony, giving a great view. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was in the restaurant, which overlooked the Cite and the River. This consisted of breads, rolls, cheeses, cold meats, yoghurts, fresh fruit salad and fresh fruit. There was also scrambled egg, sausages and bacon every morning. The coffee was from a machine, but was fine and the orange juice was lovely, not watered down like some hotels.
The toilet and bathroom were separate and although the toilet was very small, it was fine for us, but if you were overweight or very tall, then this might create a problem.
Overall we had a lovely holiday and would have no hesitation in going back. I would say that this hotel has the best location in Carcassonne.
Thank you to the staff for a lovely holiday.

Room Tip: Make sure you get a room with a panorama view.

It must be the best located hotel in the area. Between the old and the new city, everything is within walking distance, and if you book a room with a panoramic view, you'll get the most spectacular view of the old city, the river and the old bridge. Breakfast is poor, not worth 13 Euros, and not suitable for a 4 star hotel, but the view from the breakfast room (panoramic restaurant) is so great, that you will not worry. There is coffee-making facility in your room, and without problem you could easily buy your own baguette, cheese and ham etc. 3 times a week there is a great market in the city centre from 7:00 a.m. to 13:00 - not to bee missed - where you can get everything you need.

Room Tip: Make sure to get a room with a panoramic view!
