A real "bijou" hotel. Small and friendly. Great location - walking distance from station old Cite and lower town. On main boulevard, but great double glazing so noise was not a problem. The room we had was small, but really lovely - nice furniture, all matching, and spotlessly clean. I was a bit thrown by the layout - the shower room is "open plan" as soon as you walk into the room, with only a curtain; but there is a door separating it from the bedroom, and you can use the area as a dressing area since the wardrobe is there. The lady at reception (the owner?) could not have been more helpful - she actually saved us a small fortune by printing out our boarding passes for our flight the next day!

We wanted an inexpensive room for a 5 day trip, somewhere to sleep and rest occasionally as we expected to spend most of our time out sightseeing. We were warmly welcomed, our room was spotless and linen was changed regularly and always felt fresh & comfortable. The joint proprietors and small staff were friendly and helpful. The location was excellent for all the main attractions with the railway station just a short walk away. Access to and from the Airport by Shuttle and/or taxi was easy. It was friendly and good value for money. Vic & Helen.

We checked in with some anxiety having read earlier reviews. we were greeted by the friendly madame, given access to our room late morning, so were able to freshen up before exploring. The hotel is ten minutes from the station and the main square, and a 15 minute stroll to the old city. We left the ceiling fan on when we went out to dinner, and left it on all night, which meant the room was at a pleasant temperature. Breakfast was value for money - a hotel near the station charged 6 euros for a breakfast without eggs, ham, yoghurt, fruit compote or cereal. The bed was huge, comfortable and very clean, linens changed each day, and the drinks machine not overpriced.

This is a no frills hotel, just like the airline I travelled to Carcassonne on.

It is housed in a very old building and decor has seen better days. However, Madam was welcoming and spoke enough English to understand any requests.

We stayed two nights. The first night we were on the second floor (no lifts, but only hand luggage so no problem) at the front of the hotel. Quite noisy as constant traffic through the night. New cotton sheets that were clean as were the towels.

The following morning I asked Madam if we could be moved to another room at the back of the hotel and it was no problem. Slightly larger bedroom and bathroom. As previously, clean cotton sheets and towels. As have travelled extensively worldwide 5 star and less the first thing I always check are the sheets and towels. Decor is not a priority when I am staying for a couple of nights and sightseeing, unless there is a special reason for the weekend.

All rooms have a ceiling fan which was quiet so we were able to leave on during the night as very hotel while we were there.

The breakfast was adequate - choice of juices, coffee, ham, eggs, yoghurt, cereal, pastries.

The biggest plus point for this hotel is its position. 15 mins to old town although uphill and 10 mins to new town. As we spent the first day looking around the old town and wanted to return to eat once we had returned to the hotel to shower etc. Madam was quite happy to call for a taxi. It really is worth returning in the evening to see all the battlements lit up by floodlight and walking through all the old streets is very atmospheric.

Did the trip on the Canal du Midi, but as high hedges on either side not worth spending £8 per person, unless going through a lock would be exciting for you.

As there were 3 of us on this trip we caught a taxi from the airport to the hotel, which cost £10 and takes about 15 minutes.

A market is held in the 'new' town on Saturdays and Tuesdays. We also felt very safe wherever we walked during the day and late at night.

All in all as mentioned before a ' no frills' hotel in a very central position. Dated decor, but sheets and towels new and clean. If it is possible do request a room at the back of the hotel.

Whether you stay in this hotel or spend a lot more money, it is a wonderful place to visit.

We are a young couple traveling on a budget, but we do value comfort and cleanliness.
We stayed only one night and had no problems with bed bugs.

We were in a double room with bathroom. Although it had no airconditioner, it did have a ceiling fan, and we didn't have problems sleeping. Our room was well lit and clean, and I even thought it was kind of large for french standards. The bathroom was a little small, but ok. Our window faced the main street outside, but I didn't find it noisy at all - then again, I always bring ear plugs.

It's definetely not a luxury hotel, and it has no lift (you have to carry your bags upstairs), so if you're looking for something fancy this is not it. We didn't care for breakfast or room service and other hotel services (actually, I don't even know if they had internet for the guests); we just wanted a comfortable and clean place to sleep, and the hotel suited us fine. Oh, and no smoking allowed, that could be a problem to some, though not for us, since we don't smoke.

The staff was friendly and allowed us to leave our luggage there after checkout, so we could spend a few more hours walking around town. It's near the bridges and within walking distance both to the medieval town (15m, but uphill) and to the train station (10m or so).

Overall, my experience was good, loved the city, liked the hotel, had no problems, good price, well located.

I had the worst possible experience in this hotel. On arrival, I was greeted by a girl with fluent english. I had read review saying bed bugs were a problem but i was being optimistic..
I had no problem with the hotel only that it was quite basic until the 3rd night.. I awoke to find the bed and walls covered in bed bugs.. they were literally everywhere. I was badly bitten all over my body. I was checking out that day so went to complain to the girl who up to this point had perfect english. she kept repeating that she did not understand. i was really frustrated as the girl was unbelievably ignorant and unhelpful. To my horror the girl then decided to leave the reception area and never came back!!!!!!!!
Unfortunately, i had to leave the hotel to get to the airport.
It was on the whole one horribly negative experience and i never experienced such terrible service. i would avoid. i am still recovering from the bites one week on........

My husband booked this hotel and when I read the reviews on here I was so very worried. We decided since to check out the hotel to see if it was as bad as everyone said. It really wasn't too bad. The positives - the staff were really friendly and helpful. The hotel room was clean. The negatives - our room had the window on the road and it was REALLY loud at night. We needed to keep our window open as there was no aircon. Also the breakfast was not worth 8 euros.

But it was a clean place to lay our heads after seeing Carcassonne. I wouldn't say it was the best place to stay but I have seen worse. (and we found no bedbugs in our room).
