A fairly old and run down Ibis near an industrial estate. The room was tiny and had a strange smell.
Service was fairly brusk and unwelcoming. The new Ibis bed, was good.
A plus is it's only 10 mins from the Cite. Surprised how many positive reviews this hotel has.

We booked as part of a package tour and as we would be out early each day and back late we didn't upgrade to other hotels available - I'm so glad we stayed here as other people who'd paid a supplement for other hotels were disappointed. The cleanliness was superb, the room small but had everything we needed and the bed was extremely comfortable, with extra, very bouncy pillows and good quality thick mattress topper and good quality cotton bed linen. The staff were wonderful and so pleasant and helpful especially Jo-Annie (hope I've spelled that right but that's how it was pronounced anyway!) The buffet breakfast was quite extensive for a budget-type hotel eg fresh fruit salad, good choice of breakfast cereals, crepes, tortilla, yogurts, ham & cheeses, croissants, various breads (we could smell it baking each morning), cakes, pain au chocolat, various fruit juices and the best bit of all - a self serve coffee machine which ground fresh beans, also a good selection of teas incl Earl Grey, Darjeeling etc. The location of the hotel looks like an industrial estate but they had made an effort to put a tall hedge all around the hotel and the grassed areas were very well tended. There was a seating area outside the hotel with very pleasant trees, shrubs and impressive cacti in front so it felt quite rural and private. If booking separately you may get a good deal on the various hotel sites but the price advertised within the hotel is only 69 euros a night which is cheap as chips anyway. They also have a good little evening restaurant with quite extensive bistro type menu. There's also a good buffet with self service all you can eat starters and deserts with one main course - 3 courses 15 euros; starter & sweet 9e, main and starter or main and dessert 13e. I had the pork casserole one night as a main and beef borgignoine another (huge chunks of lean meat both times) with potatoes or pasta. Desserts eg tarte au citron; coconut tart; apple tart; strawberries; fresh fruit salad etc. They didn't mind if you had more than one portion and encouraged people to enjoy whatever they wanted. Quite a large pitcher of decent white, rose or red wine was approx. 6 euros, enough for 3-4 people. Small pitcher for 3 euros did 2 glasses of wine. Excellent value for money but more importantly good quality stuff and served with a genuine smile in pleasant, clean and friendly surroundings. An unexpectedly very pleasant experience.

Room Tip: All rooms are the same as far as I could tell and on the usual Ibis format (eg identical to the one...

Before I arrived I was warned that this hotel is 'visually challenged'. That was a gross exaggeration. It has 2 storeys and is cubic rather than anything else but every effort has been made to make it look inviting. Which it succeeds in doing.

This hotel is on the edge of town but this was no problem. It is a 35 minute walk to The Citadel. The bus costs 1Euro each way and a taxi costs between 10-12Euros. There are many restaurants within a 10 minute walk but the quality of the food at the Ibis encourages you not to roam. There is a la carte, about 9-10Euros or a 2course buffet for 15Euro. Wine is cheap though beer is not. The continental breakfast is more than adequate and very typically French.

The rooms are not big, fairly standard rooms, clean and well serviced. There are no safes but the Manager is prepared to lock valuables, such as passports, in his office safe.

But the main thing that would make me return is the superb quality of the staff: pleasant, helpful, always smiling and doing everything in their power to oblige.

The hotel makes a promise that it will solve any problem its guests might have within 15 minutes of being reported. I had no reason to test that promise. The hotel had everything I needed.

Room Tip: The first floor rooms and restaurant are accessible to disabled persons. There is a major road nearb...
