Out of the way to keep the tourists at bay, this place is perfect. Filled with locals, you know as soon as you arrive that you will have a great lunch/dinner. Rustic with open kitchen cooking on wood, friendly staff and very tasty meat & marrowbone. What it aims to do it gets spot on. Best restaurant of its type I have been to & up there with the best overall.
Visit the brocante/vintage items shop next door & just after this is the place they make the menthe/creme de citron that you should have ended your meal with (they dont post to England, ggrrrrr!)

The owner is unique
The setting is unique
There is lots of meat
The wine list is fantastic

The one fish dish is an unspectacular king prawn

Go if you are a meat lover!
Don't go if you are squeamish! Cuts of meat are hung as a display in a glass fronted fridge.
Don't go if you expect anything apart from meat and good wine.

The filet mignon was an excellent cut that was beautifully prepared. It came with great french fries (that the server called chips, as per the British term). Also a small green salad, with a dressing made from Charles Aznavour olive oil. A genuinely wood furnishing and an open fire complete the experience. Highly recommended!

Lovely place very warm and everything was done with attention to detail. Steak amazing, chips even more so-crispy but not crunchy. My fillet steak came with Fabulous pepper sauce proper fine flavours. Partner had the entrecôte and said it was the best steak he'd had in years. Cafe Gourmand mini selection of today's pudding offerings very nice indeed. Cheerful waitresses although there were only two-one for each room and them ladies proper rushed off their feet all night. Could have done with one or two more waiting staff to be honest the place was rammed. Mini sized mint liqueur finished it all off. Nice Corbieres wine too -all and all very recommendable place if you are not in a hurry and love meat!

the "BOSS" and his food are marvelous. A ate a cote a l'os with Marrow Pipe ! wonderfull !
Good adequate service. The boss creates a special athmosphere walking with his knifes.

I saw that, when he noticed that a dish was not 100 % , he sent it back to the kitchen.

A MUST DO ! Don't forget to do a reservation because you will have no table .
