“Lovely apartment in fantastic location”
Reviewed 9 August 2015 for a stay in July 2015

We loved this place. We stayed for one week and wished we'd booked for two. Situated in an old area below the citadel with nice restaurants and boulangeries etc nearby. The photo of the views from the apartment does not do it justice - it's very close to the old walls. The apartment itself is lovely. Clean and spacious and equipped with everything you need. It was VERY hot when we stayed and thankfully 3 fans were there to help us cope! The owners live nearby and were very friendly and helpful. This will be our first choice when we return to Carcassonne.

“loved our stay - great spot and great unit”
Reviewed 26 July 2015 for a stay in June 2015

We arrived at the unit with extremely good arrival instructions, the keys were left exactly where they said. I love not having to meet with people as I'm usually so busy having a great time on the holiday I loose track of time. The unit was exactly as shown in the pictures and access to the city was close but up a very steep hill with cobble stones. Good for us but not so good for those unsteady on their feet. Plenty of good restaurants inside the walls. Also a great spot for exploring the area. Parking was found each day on our return beside the church a street away. We didn't venture across the river s the walled city was so beautiful. A little gourmet shop around the corner was exactly what we needed as it carried bakery items as well al fresh meat and vegetables. It also carried wine and dried goods and the shop keeper was very helpful and friendly despite the lack of English. The unit was quiet and well appointed.

“Perfectly located to explore this amazing, historical area and the views are real”

This apartment could not be more perfectly located. A few seconds walk from an epicerie, boulangerie and tabac and a few minutes walk to a the Pont Vieux, a variety of other shops, a newly planted and very colourful large communal square with play facilities and the local train station which serves a host of other places, some for the cost of one euro each way. The main attraction is of course the castle and the view in the picture is literally the view from the main bedroom and the lounge. The castle is lit at night. Just a few mins walk takes you to the castle itself with its many attractions and fabulous restaurants, cafes and shops. Le Cité and the castle is the location for Kate Mosse's Carcassonne trilogy and it is great fun identifying the names and parts of the castle mentioned in Labrynth, the first book, following the tours mentioned in the book and imagining life in medieval France. The apartment had everything we needed and Inga bought us some milk so we could have a cup of tea when we arrived in the evening. The bed was comfortable and the apartment was clean and well equipped. Inga collected us from the station and pointed out important features around the town and how to get to the Pont Vieux and shops etc. The bridge is pedestrianised and very picturesque and you can get great photos of the castle with the river and bridge in the forehand from the other bridge that is used by vehicles. It is worth mentioning that the mountains of the midi Pyrenees are also nearby so suiting skiers in the winter too. In all, a very comfortable stay in a fantastic location and I have already recommended the apartment to a friend who is longing to visit this amazing, historical, beautiful. area of France. If only a week could last for more than 7 days........

“Great apartment, great town.”
Reviewed 25 May 2015 for a stay in May 2015

Really comfortable apartment in a very quiet area - no traffic noise, just birdsong - it was like staying in a rural gite. The views of the Cite from the living room and bedroom were fantastic. Carcassonne is a lovely town, very pedestrian friendly and a pleasure to come home to after day trips to the much busier cities of Toulouse and Montpellier. It's also very easy to walk into the countryside from the town, so even without a car, there is plenty to do. Inga and Mick are very welcoming and so helpful.

“Best holiday rental ever”
Reviewed 3 May 2015 for a stay in April 2015

I have booked many holiday apartments in several countries. None lived up to expectations as much as this one - in fact it exceeded them. Great location, fabulous view, friendly helpful owners and all for a very modest price. We were the envy of our friends who had accommodation elsewhere in Carcassonne. The apartment was very clean and well equipped, close to the old cite, surrounded by lovely restaurants, and a short walk to The Bastide, Canal du Midi and railway station for longer trips to Toulouse and the Med. There was even a handy little boulangerie/ general store on the corner for fresh breakfast croissants. A great find!

“Fantastic place and owners”
Reviewed 24 April 2015 for a stay in March 2015

The location is perfect with facilities nearby. It was quiet at night with a great view of the old city. Corner shops with bread and the essentials were all nearby as were restaurants. Everything needed was in the apartment. There are walks along the river and also a thriving market on Saturday in the new town I would have no reservation about recommending this place.

“Ticked every box for us.”
Reviewed 11 April 2015 for a stay in April 2015

This apartment is ideally situated for both the medieval and modern cities. The views from the living area and the double bedroom up to La Citie are superb. The apartment was clean and served our every need for relaxing, eating and sleeping. Two very welcoming boulangeries are only metres away at the end of the street which made breakfasts very easy. Lots of local restaurants are all within easy walking distance. Our hosts Mick and Inga were very welcoming. We received a very nice surprise on our arrival at Carcassonne airport when Mick met us and drove us straight to the apartment. Mick was also very helpful when we had to readjust our travel arrangements due to the cancellation of our flights home because of French airport strike action. I would have no hesitation in booking this apartment again.
