“Wonderful relaxing holiday!”
Reviewed 24 August 2016 for a stay in August 2016

We had a great time in our gîte at La Maison des Vignes. Gîte Lavande is a very spacious place for up to 8 people. We were only 4 so the kids had their own bedroom each. Great architecture and beautiful views over the vinyards. Wonderful pool area with plenty of space for all. The hosts Jonathan and Suzanna are very, very friendly and have some good advice for each activity that you might plan. Always helpful! They made us feel like home. We enjoyed the welcome soirées very much when you get to know the other guests and the hosts and taste some local specialties. Also enjoyed a local village party with music and dance and more great local food. The area is wonderful for wine tasting, riding the bikes along the Canal du Midi, exploring the countryside with beautiful gorges (Minerve), shopping at local markets, medieval historic castles, fortresses and cities (Carcassonne, Lagrasse, Narbonne,...), fishing in the river Aude, swimming in the rivers and going to the beach (35 minutes to Gruissan Plage), canoeing on the river Aude and even horse riding and naturally relaxing at the great pool. We would very much recommend spending one ore two weeks at La Maison des Vignes.

“Country Living French style”
Reviewed 10 August 2016 for a stay in August 2016

Visited La Maison Des Vignes with a group of friends, ages ranging from 13 to *ahem* older...We booked all three gites for a week's holiday and had a really lovely time. Jonathan and Suzanna looked after us very well - with spotless communal spaces and well appointed accommodation. The pool area is perfect for lazy relaxation, and as a fair skinned Brit, I very much appreciated the cool and shady "outdoor room". A profusion of basil and other scented plants in the garden is a nice touch, and there are plenty of umbrellas, loungers and sofas to sit on. The pool itself is gently heated and a good size for space. It worked well for impromptu games of volley ball as well as more sedate laps.

The accommodation is comfortable and well thought out - plenty of books, cushions, lamps, seating etc. Towels for bathrooms & poolside are provided, along with the thoughtful touch of bathrobes. Only quibble would be a plea for a straight bladed knife that could be sharpened, and perhaps the addition of one large oven dish (as someone who likes to cook!). Otherwise the kitchen is well equipped with coffee machine, toaster, kettle, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine etc.

Location is excellent - short drive to various places of interest such as Narbonne, Carcassonne, Olonzac, and Minervois. Local markets provide great produce, Les Halles at Narbonne being a particularly good one to visit. There is also a local shop literally on the doorstep, which can provide you with fresh bread and basics as well as a good cup of coffee. Everyone in the village was friendly and welcoming.

Would happily recommend this as place for friends and large families to rent outright but the singular gites would also work well for smaller groups - each has its own private outdoor space to enjoy as well as the communal pool area. Jonathan and Suzanne have put a lot of thought and care into this place. Really enjoyed my visit.

“Luxurious home away from home!”
Reviewed 24 July 2016 for a stay in June 2016

We stayed in the Gite Lavande in June 2016 and were 2 adults, a 3 year old and a 5 month old. Before we booked I had sent the owners loads of queries which they came back to me with very detailed responses. This was the first time I had booked anywhere via PayPal but it was very easy to do.
Jonathan had sent directions to us and the roads are very clearly signposted. We travelled from Belfast to Bordeaux and the journey from Bordeaux took about 3.5 hours.
The gite was really clean and Jonathan had also asked us before we arrived if we needed any shopping done. When we arrived at about 10pm it was great to be able to get into the gite, get a snack and get the kids to bed without having to look for somewhere open that late on a Saturday night. The gite was immaculate with everything you would need. The washing machine was invaluable with having 2 kids with us. The welcome evening was good so that we could meet the others staying in the 2 remaining gites and to get information on the local area. The owners also have a huge information pack which we used on a daily basis to see where we wanted to visit in the area. While we were there it was my husband's 40th birthday and the owners helped me get a surprise cake ordered for him via the local shop which is just next door.
For food shopping, the garage in Homps has everything basic you need including baby milk and nappies. We also used some of the bigger supermarkets like the Casino in Olonzac and then topped up in the local shop.
The village itself is very small and quiet. Jonathan organised a wine tasting and tour of the Festiano wine producer which is just next door. The local shop sells all of the regional wines for about €9. The shop is a great place to try out your French and my 3 year old was saying bonjour and au revoir automatically by the time we were leaving.
The owners have thought about everything down to the last detail. We used their picnic bag a couple of days.
One thing we liked was that the owners are about if you need them but are not intrusive.
The pool was great to get cooled down and has lots of shade which helped with our baby.
We didn't hear any noise from the gite beside us at all. (and hopefully we didn't create too much racket either...!)

“Lovely location, clean, modern comforts and friendly and welcoming English hosts”
Reviewed 22 July 2016 for a stay in July 2016

Jonathan and Suzanna provided welcome drinks and nibbles with other guests from the 2 other Gites and told us all the best places to go, including best spot to see the Tour de France and organised for us to join a local French meal for Bastille day celebrations. The shop and bar next door is great for croissant, baguette and a cold beer or wine in the evening. Gite Olivier is spacious clean with all modern comforts - IKEA styled. Pool is lovely and secured for young children. Great location, Gite and hosts.

“Fantastic accomodation in a truely fabulous setting”
Reviewed 7 July 2016 for a stay in June 2016

We stayed in Gite Olivier with our 2 sons 19yrs and 15yrs and one of their girlfriends. We had the extra room and found the accommodation fabulous. Johnathan and Suzanna were both friendly/welcoming and very helpful no matter what we asked or needed. The welcome evening was a great idea as then we got to know the guests staying in the other 2 gites and we thoroughly enjoyed everyone's company. Johnathan organised a trip to the local wine cave which we did with some of the other guests which was really interesting and again good fun.
We went to Narbonne / Carcassonne / Minerve / Biz Minervois / Ribaute / and many more - all of which were recommended in the welcome folder and everywhere we went was truly beautiful. Our favourite visit was to the Abbaye De Fontfroid. A truly spectacular place.
The local Tourouzelle store was very handy and great to have fresh bread every day. Johnathan recommended the locally grown peaches and apricots from the village which again were fabulous.
The swimming pool was always clean and was a great temperature - we were worried going in June that it may be cold but we were in it every day. There are plenty of sun loungers for everyone and the covered area in the shade worked well for rest bite from the sun and it was lovely to sit under in the evening and watch the sunsets.
We had a fantastic holiday and the only down side was having to leave. Thanks to both of you for such a wonderful stay.

Very nice, well decorated, beautiful gite/location in the south of France, between Carcassone and Narbonne. The hosts were most friendly and the pool just lovely! In 40 min at sea and beautiful surroundings to walk and take the bike.
