“Excellent location and friendly service”

We stayed here for a week in October and this apartment has an excellent location in a quiet little street with a 10 min walk to the Cite and a pleasant 15 min walk over the picturesque old bridge into the Bastide Town. Inga the owner picked us up from the airport and drove us back on our return, she is a friendly and very generous host with plenty of advice about the area.
The apartment is very well equipped with everything you need and is comfortable and clean. There are two handy small shops in the adjoining road to get the essentials like fresh bread and milk.
We ate out every night, alternating between restaurants in the Cite and the Town but if you don't feel like walking far there are some good cafes and restaurants in Rue Trivalle, just a short walk from the front door.
The area has plenty to keep you occupied - the Medieval Cite and the Canal du Midi for cycling, walking and boat trips. There are also some lovely walks along the river, all close to the apartment. The Bastide Town is very interesting too with a thrice weekly market which is well worth visiting. We also took the train to Narbonne for a day, another interesting town to visit.
Carcassonne is a great destination and the Renoir apartment is in the perfect location to make the best of the old and new towns.

“Our stay at the Renoir was inspiring!”
Reviewed 11 September 2015 for a stay in August 2015

My wife and I stayed at the Renoir for the month of August. Waking up in the morning and seeing the Cite up above us was inspiring, and we enjoyed imagining what life there would have been like in the Middle Ages. No matter how many times we walked up to the Cite to explore the different pedestrian lanes we never tired of the beauty. Sitting in one of the Cite's squares enjoying a coffee or meal was relaxing. The Renoir's location is equidistant to the Cite or to the modern city going the other direction. The open market in Place Carnot three mornings a week is wonderful! The art museum is fabulous and free as well. Since we didn't have a car, we took trains occasionally and enjoyed nearby cities. Narbonne is stunning, and a boat ride on the canal is relaxing. Well, I could ramble on for a long time, but I should not take too much time. The highlight of our visit was the kind generosity of the owner Inga! She truly made us feel at home from the moment we arrived at the train station and even waited for our late train. Whisking us off to a supberb supermarket that we still dream about and then about town to orient us before arriving at the Renoir. The apt. was perfect: the bed very comfortable, the shower excellent, a nice sofa to relax on with excellent lighting should you like to read. We would not hesitate to highly recommend the Renoir and are looking forward to our return!

“Excellent short break”

I stayed here with my teenage son for a short break (made shorter by French Air Traffic Controllers! We were welcomed at the airport and supported very well by Mick, the owner, who gave us great advice on places to visit. The apartment had everything we could have needed and was well maintained. The bed and bed settee were both comfortable and electrical equipment in excellent condition. Carcassonne was fantastic. The sun shone for us and we enjoyed frequent visits to the Cite, which is so close, we could go up for a coffee or glass of wine and take in the sights at different times of the day and night. The Bastide Town gives a real flavour of France and we also enjoyed a trip along the Canal. We have returned with great memories and fantastic photos to keep those memories going. Be warned though, the walk up to the Cite is fairly steep and along cobbled streets, which might be an issue if you have problems with independent mobility (all the more reason to stop frequently and take in the views!)

I stayed here for a week with my husband and baby daughter. Location could not be better; midway between the old city and the town centre (about 10-15 mins walk to each) and plenty of restaurants just round the corner. Friendly owner picked us up at the airport and made us feel very welcome. The apartment is well-equipped; we cooked dinner each evening and had everything we needed in the kitchen. The free WIFI worked well. If we return to Carcassonne we would definitely stay here again.

“Great Location & Service with a Smile”
Reviewed 3 March 2015 for a stay in February 2015

We visited Carcassonne & stayed in Renoir in February for a much needed break & wow was it wonderful. A stunningly beautiful part of the world with the breathtaking medieval cite right on the accommodations doorstep.
Being so central we felt fully immersed in the French culture in the town below as well as steeped in history wandering around the cobbles of the cite above. Just look up to see the gargoyles or look out from the cite walls to see vineyards on the outskirts of town and the Pyrenees mountains peeking out in the distance.
The flat was the perfect base not just because of location but as a 'home from home'. Free wifi :-) clean & cosy, comfy bed, lots of bedding and enough kitchen equipment that we could buy local produce and cook as well as trying out local restaurants.
The experience was enhanced by the friendliness & consideration of the apartment owners. Inga collected us from the airport and took us to the local supermarket on our arrival, drove us around to get our bearings and gave local pointers on nearest shops, coffee spots, restaurants & viewpoints. Great to know there was local advise just a phone call or email away during our stay. Logistics easy when we left as well as Inga collected us and took us to the airport.
Great place, service with a smile and we can't wait to come back to stay again. Next time we'll stay longer and hire a car so we can explore further afield but I know where we'll be based :-)

“Great location!”
Reviewed 3 August 2014 for a stay in July 2014

We really enjoyed our stay in beautiful Carcassonne. The Monet apartment is in a super location, on a quiet little street looking out at the walls of the cite. It is also well placed for little shops and restaurants, and for the bridge taking you across to the newer area of the city. The apartment is a comfortable size for 2 people - a bit of a squeeze for 4, but we didn't find that a problem for the 3 days of our stay. It is clean and well maintained and Inga is a pleasure to deal with. I would have no hesitation in recommending Monet as a place to stay, and Carcassonne is amazing!

“Good location - pity about the damp patches”
Reviewed 3 November 2013 for a stay in October 2013

We stayed at Renoir for one week at the end of October, a last minute booking. We were met in by Inga, who kindly took us to a supermarket on the way back. The apartment was well located in a quiet street just below La Cite. About 20 mins walk to the centre of the town and 25 mins to the station, but only 10 mins to La Cite. Ideally located if only staying 2 or 3 days, but we found during our longer stay making for the station or city buses to visit elsewhere meant a lot of walking! The apartment had a very well fitted out kitchen and bathroom. However, it was dark, usually needing the lights to be on during the day (typical old French house), and we could hear footsteps from the apartment above. The worst thing was that there were several large damp patches on one wall in the lounge area, which wasn’t pleasant to look at. Inga explained that they were aware of this and had left an airwick with us to try and alleviate the damp smell. However, we used this in the bathroom instead, as this was unventilated and opened up straight into the kitchen! Inga gave us a discount in view of our last minute booking, but in view of the damp problem, we feel a further discount could have been offered to us. But we enjoyed our week exploring Carcassonne – the old medieval Cite is truly amazing - and the area around.

Customer satisfaction is always our top priority, however these guests
have made some comments which are very misleading, contradictory and
incorrect.

The apartment is located in the popular Trivalle district below the
Medieval Cite and is indeed a ten minute walk into the Cite. However,
the town centre is a comfortable fifteen minute walk as previous
reviews have stated. We would suggest that most people would not
regard a ten or fifteen minute walk as "a lot of walking".

It is an old privately owned apartment building and whilst the
ceilings and floors are well insulated there will be some occasional
noise from the apartment above. If the shutters are kept closed any
apartment will be dark but there is plenty of light in the apartment.

The wall in the living room was not damp when these guests arrived. We
pointed out to them the large stain on the living room wall caused by
a leaking pipe in the neighbouring property which had been recently
repaired. We decided not to paint over the stain as it could be an
unpleasant odour for the guests. This work has subsequently been
carried out.

The bathroom is most certainly ventilated and is a legal requirement.
It has a small window and a mechanical ventilation system as does the
kitchen.

These guests have clearly strived to find negative comments in the
hope of extracting discount on the price although they didn't have the
courtesy to talk to us directly despite plenty of opportunity to do
so.

We would ask potential guests to read other guest reviews for a more
balanced viewpoint.
