“My home away from home”

This was our second stay in the same apartment, and the "Massena" is wonderful every time. The place feels like home, the owners have thought of everything possible to make one's stay pleasant. There's a flat screen TV with subscription for all French and British channels. If that's not enough the included hi-speed wi-fi is available. What more would you need?

The location is a stone's throw away from the amazing Carcassonne castle. It's always a delight to take a two minutes walk and gaze at the medieval walls under different light through the day. The view is amazing at dusk, when the night lights come on but there's still some slight color in the sky.

The Massena appartment is our favorite place in Languedoc, Thank you for this wonderful place that makes us feel great.

“Fantastic Location”

We stayed in the apartment for 10 days in August and had a fabulous time. There was plenty of space for the four of us and the living room sofa bed was perfectly comfortable. The apartment itself is well decorated, much larger than the photos suggest and has a well fitted kitchen and shower room. The British television channels and WiFi were a great bonus too!
The true charm of the apartment is in its location on the old bridge road. Both the Medieval Cite and new town are within walking distance and there are many amenities close by (shops, restaurants, bars etc.) We parked our car for the duration of our stay without difficulty and the area is very safe and pleasant at night. If you get the chance, we would recommend a trip to Lac de la Cavayère for a walk and a picnic!
Thanks for the lovely holiday!

Management Response
21 Jul 2013
This guest has pointed out the excellent position of the apartment and in particular proximity to excellent restaurants.
With regard to air conditioning we should mention that it is an old building with thick stone walls which along with the shutters help to keep out heat. Being so close to two UNESCO world heritage sites it is forbidden to have air conditioning units on the outside of the buildings. Hence very few properties have air conditioning. We have several fans in all our apartments and generally the temperatures in Carcassonne are not uncomfortably hot for most people.
This particular apartment is on the second floor of the building and is accessed via a gently winding well lit staircase with landings at each level. We are often asked about the stairs and indeed recently had some guests who wanted to visit before booking for a long period. They managed the stairs easily despite some 'dodgy knees' as they put it.

Liked best: Easy to get to all parts of Carcassonne. Very comfortable and excellently equipped.
Liked least: Area was a little run-down, although obviously on the up and perfectly safe.

“Our stay in Carcassonne”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 May 2013 for a stay in December 2012

We spent four months in this well appointed and comfortable apartment. It's well situated within 10 minutes walk of the old town and the Canal du Midi in one direction and 10 minutes walk from the medieval city in the other. The king size bed was especially comfortable and this apartment was the best we stayed in in all our travels throughout France and Spain. There is so much to see and do within this area that 4 months was not long enough. We will be back. Our thanks go to our hosts, Jason and Annette, for their advice and local knowledge. We recommend this highly. Rog and Liz, Southampton, England.
