House was amazing. Well equipped and a view to die for! Location was perfect with a short Walk to La Cite and 20 min Walk to centre of Carcassonne. Great tapas bar in La Cite called L'Escargot. Cycled along Canal du Midi to Trebes would recommend doing this rather than Canal boat trip. Pezenas & Grissan are a must, just don't go on Monday's, pick the market days. Thanks Gail, we had a wonderful time.

“Beautiful property with fantastic view from the garden.”
Reviewed 6 September 2014 for a stay in August 2014

Having had numerous short visits to Carcassonne we booked this property for a special occasion. Gail was incredibly flexible when I first enquired, and allowed us to add an extra day after we had made our booking.
The property is on a lovely street at the foot of La Cite. If you fly and arrive with more than just hand luggage it is worth getting a taxi as it is quite a walk from the bus drop off point.
Opening the door, you enter a different world. Lovely cool building, with a long hallway leading into an open plan kitchen and living room. It is lovely, but our eyes were immediately drawn to the garden and the view of La Cite. Many an hour was passed sitting, wine in hand, just gazing at it. Very hot in the garden, but the huge umbrella means it is easy to find much needed shade.
Back inside, and all three bedrooms are a good size, it is quite difficult to choose which one to use as the master! At one point there was six of us staying, and there is plenty of space for everyone to go and do their own thing. Excellent fans were provided in every bedroom, along with good sized towels and comfy bedding.
We were welcomed with wine and milk in the fridge, and an extra treat for our Silver Wedding, totally appreciated.
We did have a problem with wifi, and whilst it couldn't be resolved whilst we were there, Nicola and David who look after the property did everything they could to help. It is also clear that Gail listens to guests feedback and adds things to the property when the are suggested.
Watch where you sit if hazelnuts are in season, but when they do fall they are totally delicious!
I can't thank Gail enough, it was one of the best rentals we have had, and I am sure we will be back sooner rather than later.

“Magical and fabulous”
Reviewed 24 July 2014 for a stay in July 2014

Details of how to get to the property and how to get in were clear and emailed well before our holiday. Property is lovely. Everything you need for a self catering holiday. Information book explained all that we needed to know. The property is wonderfully situated at the foot of Le Cite and close to the lower town. We arrived by train and it is an easy 20 minute walk to the station. The Carcassonne Festival was on during our stay and we could hear the bands really well! We liked the ease of getting around and the setting. There wasn't anything we liked the least.

Had a fantastic 3 day break at Rue Longue, only down side was that I didn't stay longer. So much to see and do and all on your doorstep. The house is so beautiful and I found that as nice as the photos were it still didn't do it justice, Gail the owner has thought of every last thing that you could possibly need it really was a luxurious stay. Nicola who manages the property is fluent in English and French and it was a real comfort to know that she was on hand. The house is spotless, large, bright and airy, it really was one of the nicest places I have stayed in and hope to return to.

“Relaxing centrally located lovely house”
Reviewed 22 June 2014 for a stay in June 2014

We stayed for 7 nights in June. It was a lovely surprise opening the door to a house full of character with fabulous views of the Cite from the garden and bedrooms. All the rooms are large and clean and the house itself is comfortable and well equipped. It was so quiet, probably something to do with the thickness of the walls.

A walk of less than 10 minutes gets you to the main attractions of central Carcassonne and a shorter hike up the hill into the Cite itself. Gail’s communication was superb and all arrangements went without a hitch; we had a slight problem with one of the loos which was sorted out with minimum fuss.

There are plenty of reasonably priced restaurants close by and plenty of fresh food from the market in the central square & Halles on market days. We took a taxi ride to the local vineyard to stock up on the local wines but the small local épicerie has plenty to choose from, alongside the two supermarkets in town (if you don’t have a car to get to the Geant bargains). We didn’t have a car which was a bit restrictive when the local trains went on strike, however, it stopped us from rushing around Southern France and forced us to take more interest in Carcassonne itself. The only down side, and I’m being really picky, is listening to the fun next door were having in their pool on those hot hot days. That said, we had a lovely stay and hope to come back.

“Little piece of heaven”
Reviewed 28 May 2014 for a stay in May 2014

Just returned from Carcassonne & stayed at 28 Rue Longue. What a find! Gail the owner has thought of everything to make your stay totally relaxed & enjoyable.
The house is ideally located making it easy to access the old city & the new. It is beautifully decorated throughout & the fact that it has 3 separate double en-suite bedrooms gives everyone their own privacy. The furnishings & bedding are in keeping with place - tres chic!
There's a washer, big fridge freezer & hairdryers - soft fluffy towels & heated towel radiators.
The view from the windows is fabulous & the outside area whilst small is ideal for al fresco dining. Candles & votives provided should you decide to use them.
We would all love to go back & hope that next time the weather is as good as this stunning property.
Gail was very helpful & very easy to call/text before our trip - nothing too much trouble.
Thanks Gail!

“All good!”
Reviewed 26 April 2014 for a stay in April 2014

Excellent location. Tastefully restored and furnished and very fresh and contemporary. Bedrooms spacious with beautiful views up to the medieval city. Spacious open plan kitchen / sitting area with high ceiling is also bright and spacious. A great place to stay but put your Granny in the downstairs bedroom as the stairs are very steep!
