The apartment is centrally located between the old and the new towns of Carcassonne - but literally only 10mins from each.
The medieval town is by far the nicest to spend your time , and its just a short 10min walk up hill - not that steep and on the plus side its downhill on the way back !!
Unlike other reviews - we did have toilet paper but no towels - but no towels was stipulated during booking so not a surprise to me - we took our own.
The owners are very helpful and keen to give you information on the local area to ensure you get the best from your visit. We actually forgot a travel plug adaptor and the owners were only to happy to assist - I dropped them a quick "help me " text and they came straight to the apartment with a mini usb charger which I was able to use for the duration of our stay - a life saver.
The apartment was clean, tidy and spacious. For the location - this was definitely value for money. The double bedroom was bright and airy - and had wooden shutters on the windows so nice and dark at night (another reviewer said the curtains were really thin - so not sure they saw the wooden shutters).
Although only a 10min walk from either new/old towns - this was in a quiet location - and there are a few restaurants on this road if you don't wish to wander into town. They all looked very busy every night.
The apartment doesn't come with a welcome back though - so be prepared to buy a few essentials - bread, milk, fruit etc There is a 2 shops very close by that do sell these essentials - or you can have breakfast over the road in the patisserie.
One thing to be aware of though, is that the terrace does not have views over the city at all - its an outside area surrounding by walls. I misinterpreted the photo's that from the terrace you would get views over the old city - this is not the case but it didn't affect our stay but just worth knowing so your expectation's are set in advance. You do get a small view of the town if you lean out of the bedroom window though - but not the "relaxing sitting on the terrace with a bottle of wine enjoying the view" view that I was expecting.
Another useful snippet of information is that if you have a late flight and have to leave the accommodation earlier, the Youth Hostel in the medieval town will hold your luggage for you - 2 euros per case. This was great for us as we left the apartment at 10am but our transfer was not till 3.30pm. Much easier wandering the cobbled streets without cases with you.
There is a shuttle bus service which picks up from the old town to take you to the airport- this is charged at 5 euros per person - but do check it out before hand as the timetable had switched over and there was no bus available for a time that suited our flight. We got the tourist information in the medieval town to pre-book us a taxi which arrived on time - and will be approx. 20 euro's.
All in all a lovely stay , in a lovely town. If you are visiting Carcassonne anytime soon - then I have no hesitation in recommended this apartment.
I picked this rental as close and affordable location to medieval village. The location was much better than expected. 10 min walking distance to village and on picturesque street.. Apt is clean , large and interesting. Only downside is the rental does not come with any towels , paper towels or toilet paper. Maybe this is the industry standard but a bit inconvenient when you arrive from the toulouse airport too late for any local stores to be open. Towels were provided at extra cost. Overall still a great experience.

Easy walking access to the medieval city and bastide. Wonderful bakery across the road to get our pain au raisins for breakfast. Walked to Carcassonne port and had lovely cruise on canal du midi. Although hot during our 2 week visit there were good breezes through the gite and a fan. Ceiling slopes in lounge area to windows as gite on top floor, but we got used to it quickly and there is a good amount of space for the 2 of us. Bedroom especially light and airy as outdoor space to sit with full length windows to bedroom and hall. Lovely gite.
