Great location
Good selection of tapas but beware that the bill is correct as we were charged but naturally didn't pay for two carafes of wine. Was this a genuine mistake ? Maybe maybe not !

Arriving in Collioure at lunchtime on a busy Sunday it was hard to find somewhere decent to eat. We tried to sit at a couple of outside tables in other restaurants only to find they were reserved. (There does seem to be a habit in this town of not putting "reserved" notices on tables). We were fortunate to get an outside table at the back of Chez Simone (the front overlooking the bay would have been better but there you are). We were described the plat du jour which was grilled daurade and went for it straight away. We were not disappointed, I think the fish must have been swimming in the bay only hours before it was served to us, with parsley potatoes and a little salad, House rose wine in pichet was good. Service pleasant and reasonably prompt given how busy they were.

We booked a table earlier in the day for eight pm, (as a result of the reviews on Trip advisor), but when we arrived, we were told the table would be ready in ten minutes, which was fine with us.. But it was forty minutes later when we were shown to a table, we had been offered a drink while we waited. as we had been waiting outside, and by this time it had gotten quite cold, weexpected that it would be on the house, but this was not the case..
The M'aitre D was quite charming and told us as we had been iwaiting we could mix and match from the Plat de jour and the al carte. He went through the menu with us and explained all the dishes and to,d us!nothing was too much trouble.. My two companions and I order three different dishes, - our starters were very nice, , two of us ordered different pork dishes, , mine was very tasty, but the other one was a bit tough. Our other companion had anchovies which were fine. I was the only one who had dessert, creme Catalan, which was quite runny. Coffees very good. The other member of staff who served us was also very pleasant and helpful.

Despite being in Collioure for over two weeks we have avoided the restaurants on the main waterfront/port assuming they will be the usual over priced and over rated disappointment. So it was refreshing to find this establishment the complete opposite. The staff speak excellent English, have a good sense of humour and are more than happy to run through the tapas menu one by one. Average price is four to five per dish, or you can order four for fifteen euro or eight for twenty eight euros, great value. The pork cheek was delicious as was the Boudin black sausage. View to die for was 'icing on the cake'! Well worth a visit, and also they have other menu items if you don't want tapas, so can't go wrong really.

We ate here twice, the first time for gallettes - very good, the second for tapas, also good. What sets it apart is the friendly service. Table wine is tasty. All in all a good value meal, and everyone can have as much, or as little, as they
