“An exciting place to stay at New Year!”
Reviewed 12 January 2013 for a stay in January 2013

This four bedroomed cottage is perfect for any time of the year. It's five minutes from the beach and five minutes from all the bars restaurants and shops. We decided to go do something different for New Year and we were not disappointed with Collioure. The fireworks at midnight were outstanding and the the town was buzzing with people..a great party atmosphere. 20 Rue de Soliel was very well equipped and a warm comfy place to stay with plenty of room for the six of us. The kitchen is well equipped with plenty of everything you need. There is a lovely terrace with barbe que at the rear or the cottage. It must be a a lovely place to sit and enjoy drinks on the terrace in the summer months. This was our first time in Collioure but it won't be our last. We will certainly be booking a holiday in this delightful place in the summer months.

“Charming house in wonderful location, will definitely visit again”
Reviewed 4 January 2013 for a stay in August 2012

Collioure is a delightful fishing village with numerous beaches, restaurants and bars that has far more character, charm and family appeal than the more glitzy south of France destinations and is something of an 'insiders' tip' that families return to year after year. It shares both French and Spanish cultural aspects, being in the Catalan area on the border between the two countries, most noticeable in the varied menus offered by dozens of nearby restaurants with fish dishes a particular speciality.

Rue du Soleil could not be more centrally located, being a cobbled street in the old quarter of the village that leads directly to the beach and sea-front. The house is best described as a charming fisherman's cottage, which unusually for the town has both a private garage and a patio garden for evening barbecues. The house is well appointed, with crisp white bed-linen, comfy beds and a compact but well-equipped kitchen. Our family spent most of the day at the beach-front and the house is an ideal place to relax after a day in the sunshine. No need to get into the car for the entire stay except to visit local sites.

“Great central location”

Good instructions on how to get there. Great system for entry, just put a code into front door, no keys required. Old cottage style house low ceilings but no problem for us. Very comfortable beds with white linen.Plenty of hot water and good showers.
It is in a great location in relation to the village two minutes walking down the hill and your in front of the very pretty beach and town, Yet there was no sound of traffic at the house.
Small negative points. There was black mould around the kitchen sink. we had to change the light bulbs twice in the bottom bathroom. We could not get the TV to work, only discovered how to work it after texting owner, there is a switch inside front door that has to be turned on.

Thank you for your review. The kitchen and both bathrooms are being replaced during the Spring of 2012 so the small problems around the sink area will be resolved. I'll let you know when it is all finished. The TV is now fed via FreeSat and all working brilliantly

“Adequate house and accommodations in exquisite town setting”
Reviewed 27 July 2012 for a stay in July 2011

Eight of us spent two weeks in this home in exquisite Collioure. This is the most charming town I have visited in France in my five or six vacations in country. The home is nice and the galley kitchen is sufficient but not large. The low ceiling going out to the back patio caused bumps on several taller guests even with the caution issued by the owner. The washing machine door broke during our stay and took four days to get repaired despite our English speaking contact and we were required to share the expense of the repair. The refrigerator was good and cooking appliances were small but adequate. Two bathrooms were barely enough but we knew that going in. Collioure is worth a return visit, but I will pay more and live in nicer surrounding next time. The garages were a bonus but not overly convenient. The free local parking was more user friendly when you could find a spot. The markets are not to be missed and the town is superb. Don't miss the tourist train to get a better overview of the town and region. Port Vendres is worth the trip and very close and the fish market there is a must.

Liked best: The town and the house's proximity to the town center
Liked least: The accommodations seemed cramped but adequate. Broken washer door expense. If machine breaks, I feel it is owners responsibility to cover the expense not the renters.
