We had a rough start at Pairal -- were given a top floor room (an attic in the old mansion) which was a lot of stairs and a tiny window -- and as heat rises, it was very warm, with what seemed an anemic air conditioner. The desk clerk said that was to the good, because if the room were too cool, we might get sick when going to the warm outside!! Nearly left right then.

In time, however, the AC got the job done. The window gave us a canopy view of a large tree with abundant bird life. Breakfast was quite good (smoked salmon and cold meats in addition to yoghurt, fruit, boiled eggs, and the usual pastries). Though there was no brewed decaf (very unusual in France these days), tea was a decent substitute. Eating in the wonderful garden was especially pleasant and the service was good. Parking on site (expensive). Many other niceties -- free internet, newspapers, fresh fruit, nice lounge. Easy and attractive drive to the sandy beaches in Argeles (beaches in Collioure are fairly rocky).

Best of all, the hotel is right in the middle of Collioure with its many restaurants, shops and sights -- and the weekly market was just out the door as well. The map in TA doesn’t capture how close everything is to Casa Pairal. We also got a decent rate (through Venere). The steps to the old attic never got better though.

We would certainly return but would seek a lower floor.

We have just returned from a three night stay in a junior suite at this hotel. It is a unique mixture of old french charm within this bustling French seaside resort. The garden of the hotel is beautiful, especially having breakfast under the magnificent magnolia tree. The pool area is small but adequate. My only disappointment was the ensuite bathroom which is over due a re-fit. Everything works and is clean but in a hotel charging these rates you expect top quality fittings. Also be aware if you are on the top floor there is no lift and it can be difficult manouvering cases around the narrow staircase.

While the room is rather small but basic and clean, the garden and pool area are delightful. The buffet breakfast which can be enjoed in the garden was a wonderful realxing start to the day. This hotel is so well-situated with the cobble-stoned streets, panoramic promenade and two small beaches within a five minute walk. Many good restaurants are located along the waterfront. An enjoyable stop for a few days.

A lovely surprise in the beautiful but busy town. Classic French shabby chic - in a very positive way. Everything is understated and very individual. Staff very friendly and the whole place absolutely charming.

Parking is an absolute bonus as parking is quite tricky in this beautiful place not built for the age of the car.

Didn't try breakfast as we overdid dinner the night before!

Only thing missing would be tea/coffee facilities in the room.

A Peach of a place.

A lovely quiet hotel - in the centre of Couilloure. It was like an oasis from the hustle and bustle of the town. Comfortable, large room with a nice view on the courtyard. Swimming pool was very secluded and heated which was a big plus!
Didn't try the breakfast but everything looked nice.
Only downside was the trying to find the hotel in the car - we could see it but couldn't get to it due to the one way system. Finding the car park is difficult - so call and ask the hotel for precise directions before setting off.

Collioure is beautiful but gets busy and crowded in August. It's great to escape to such a tranquil oasis in the heart of the town. Great location, lovely grounds, pleasant pool, free wifi (not yet common in rural France, I found), helpful staff and car-parking (a seriously important issue, especially in high season).

The room was clean, comfortable with a pleasant little balcony - somewhat basic for the price - but the overall package was delightful. Would certainly stay at Casa Pairal again.
