“A delightful flat with a spacious balcony and great views across town”

As a family of four we stayed from the 27th July to 3rd August, with one 17 year old and a 20 year old. We were delighted with the flat, the broad balcony with two sets of french windows looked out over the old town with the castle perched to the left over looking the sea. Three stories below is a small car park which, as other reviewers have noted was not intrusive and provided continuous amusement as people jostled, and at times argued, over spaces. The car park also meant the flat has a sweeping, unobstructed view over the town.
Efficient air conditioning was very welcome at night; the flat is cool and quiet at the back where the bedrooms are situated.
A 2 minute walk takes you to a quality bakery and supermarket, 5 minutes more and you are down at the sea front. There are four beaches with good swimming which get busy but were not over crowded.
An excellent market on Wednesdays, frequented by locals was again just 5 minutes walk and well worth the visit.
The town, with many excellent restaurants, was a pleasure to walk around with street entertainment and a comfortable bustle.
In the flat, quality, new appliances and the balcony to eat out on made self catering an enjoyable option to going out.
The owners were always helpful in meeting requests and advising on restaurants and the locality. Being right in the town and having a designated and protected parking place was a real bonus.

Liked best: The location and being able to sit out and eat, enjoying French town life go by

“Proximity to beaches and old town shopping and beaches can't be beat”
Reviewed 27 July 2013 for a stay in July 2013

We stayed for one week in July in this upstairs apartment which is just a stone's throw from Collioure shops, restaurants and beaches. Temperatures were high so we really appreciated the air conditioning and the cool cotton bedding. The kitchen was reasonably well equipped and we cooked most nights with ingredients purchased from the Market (Sundays and Wednesdays). There is an excellent bakery just across the other side of the car park - such a friendly owner and her Pitchone is simply delicious. The Post Office is across from the bakery for sending post cards to friends/family and there is an ice cream parlour with ice cream and sorbets (try the Sorbet Cassis) to die for! The supermarket is just next door - so really everything within easy reach.
The beaches are pebble so bring some flip flops or other footwear that you can leave at the water's edge to make the trek across the pebbles less painful. Plenty of beach mats, wind breaks and a cooler are thoughtfully provided however we couldn't locate any beach towels. We missed the BBQ which was shown in the photo online but wasn't on the terrace when we got there so grilled fish was off the menu :(
As other reviewers have commented the location of the apartment right beside a car park at first seems a bit disappointing but like other visitors we spent some time sitting on the terrace watching the "chasse" as people laid claim to spaces, had disputes, seen rowers come up with their huge oars to stash in the shed just below and enjoyed watching the multitude of swallows perform their acrobatic feats in the air. The bedroom is on the quiet side of the apartment but in any case as the apartment is very well insulated, noise was never an issue.
The owner kindly hired bikes for us in advance - recommend to take the bikes out early in the morning before the roads get too busy as the route national is narrow and heavy traffic is the norm. Thanks to the owner we were introduced to Sue who was our driver for a memorable trip to Mosset in the Pyrenees about 40Km from Collioure for a hike in the alps at Col de Jau. Absolutely stunning and as it was several degrees cooler a pleasant hiking experience in July :)
We found Collioure to be a bit busier than we had anticipated but plan to return either earlier or later in the year next time.

“Central location with parking, well-furnished, convivial owner.”

Our second visit to Collioure and this rental was much better than our previous. Although the apartment can sometimes be used by the owner when it is not rented there is no evidence of this (no locked wardrobes, filled cupboards) and yet it is tastefully furnished and with good paintings. It has good air-conditioning although we only used it once. The balcony was great despite immediately overlooking the car park, which turned out to be anthropologically fascinating. The view beyond of the town and its Fort at dawn and dusk was very pleasant with the hirondelles performing great feats of flying. The convivial and generously-natured owner was in the neighbouring apartment during our 3 week stay. He had the right balance of openness without ever imposing on us. Normally we prefer the owners not to be around but the presence of this owner was an asset. Shops, cafés, restaurants, beaches, château all in the vicinity but if you had a car, as we did, garaged parking was close by in the same Impasse as the apartment.

Liked best: Furnished for living in rather than for renting. Good balcony. Sociable owner
Liked least: Immediate view of car park, but this proved entertaining and views beyond were great.

excellent location as easy walking to the small town which is one of the most delightful we have ever visited. Having a private parking space was an added bonus as it is almost impossible to get a free parking space. Nice quiet side street so no noise. All the amenities were in good order and very comfortable beds. We certainly intend to return to this flat at some point in the future
