“Everything you could want in accommodation”

From beginning to end the Fisherman's Cottage met or exceeded our expectations. Response from the owner at the time of booking was prompt and the payment process easy. The owner was friendly and helpful through email and answered all our questions clearly and quickly. We were a group of four women and the space and location worked perfectly for us.

The cottage set in the old town amongst other 17th Century dwellings has managed to retain much of its original charm while having been completely and intelligently renovated. The kitchen is well equipped, the WiFi works perfectly and the bathrooms are modern and spotless. The two upstairs bedrooms, one of which would be perfect for a couple and the other for a single, share a bathroom. On the entrance floor is another bedroom which had two single beds for our needs but can also be a double. It has an attached bathroom. The floor in between is communal living space and is comprised of the kitchen, living area and dining room table. One of our number is an early riser so she chose to use the pull-out bed in the living area which she reported was very comfortable.

The location of the cottage is excellent. It is no more than a minute to beach, bakery, restaurants and shops and across the street from Collioure's main parking lot. The main part of town is a beautiful 5 minute walk along the water and the walls of the Fort. There are many good restaurants and shops in town and we especially liked the Sunday and Wednesday markets. The incredible collection of artwork in the Bar des Templiers is not to be missed. We also enjoyed day trips to Gorge de la Fou/Thuir and Castelnou, Ceret and its Museum of Modern Art, and to Cedaques, seaside home of Dali and Figueres, to see the Dali Museum. There are many, many things to do in and around Collioure and there is lots of information in the Cottage about the various options.

If we are lucky enough to return to Collioure some day, we will do our best to stay at the Fisherman's Cottage.

“Fantastic home from home in quiet location”

My wife and I arrived at Collioure railway station late at night after a LONG train journey from Riomaggiore in Cinque Terre, Italy. Walked with cases from train station (10 - 15 minutes) and found this very clean, charming and beautifully restored cottage a short distance from the main street, in a quiet alleyway.

The house is a well maintained tasteful mixture of modern furnishings and a refurbishment that (I guess) retains the essential character and charm of the cottage. It is on three levels, with bedrooms on the ground and second floor. We stayed with another couple and the arrangement of bedrooms also meant we had good privacy, as well as enjoying the shared time together in the living area and kitchen on the first floor. We found the accommodation exactly as advertised with a high standard of quality amenities, and comfortable beds and furnishings. The kitchen is well designed and equipped.

We had no trouble sleeping at night, as it was quiet, and the environment was relatively cool with shutters closed against the midday sun in late June. There were no issues with showers or cooking and in-house entertainment (TV, books, guides, music system, etc) was more than adequate.

The cottage is a very short walk from restaurants, patisserie,wine/beer supplies and the beach. Walk just a little bit longer to explore the town and enjoy other restaurants/cafes nearby. In the course of a 6 day visit I believe we ate in 4 restaurants (most served excellent food) and never did finish exploring this beautiful little town. We hired a small motor boat and travelled to Argeles-sur-Mer on a lovely day, while large fish (?Tuna) jumped out of the water around us. We also drove to Amelie-les- Bains in the Pyrenees, and walked from Port Vendres to Collioure.

We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this lovely cottage and have no hesitation in recommending it to family and friends. We can’t wait to go back to Collioure, and the cottage would be our first choice for accommodation.

Dealing with the owners when booking, and when making arrangements for entry was always a pleasure and easy.

“Impressive accommodation”

The fisherman's house in Collioure has been beautifully restored and is a very pleasing space indeed. It is peaceful and private with absolutely everything required for a long or short term stay. We have spent five wonderful weeks here and found the accommodation to be extremely comfortable and the fully equipped modern kitchen quite excellent - many good meals have been built with ease.
It is a great location very close to the beach, the many good restaurants and the start of walking trails. A walk to Fort St-Elme via the windmill is a must - the views from there are spectacular and one can return to Collioure by strolling past Fort Dugommier and through the vineyards with their amazing dry stone wall terracing. The one Euro bus stops are very close. This is a great service enabling exploration of many fascinating villages and cities throughout the region. If you feel like a day shopping or eating in Perpignan, just hop on a bus. There is no need for a car.
The owners and various renters have left a wonderful collection of maps and information for perusal, making it very easy to plan your holiday. And the library contains reading to cater for all tastes.
We found this beautiful cottage impressive and very comfortable and we would certainly stay there in future. It is excellent value for money.

“Great place, will be back again!”

The house was perfect for our one month stay in October-November last year. Plenty of room and thoughtfully decorated and equipped, reliable Wifi and a great selection of books. My wife loved the decorative touches and the art. The kitchen was modern and had everything we needed. The beach, bakery and wine shop were really close, as were a couple of good eateries – the Ambroisie was a favourite. It was literally 30 seconds from the waterfront yet peaceful and tucked away. The owners were warm and responsive and sent us plenty of useful and accurate information about the house, how to get there and what to do in the village -they also recommended the Collioure iphone app, which we used a lot. The beds were comfortable, the bathrooms clean and modern. The neighbor who tended the plants was kind and helpful and took us to her ‘secret garden’ behind the village - what a joy. We’ll be back soon. Stan C

We have stayed in the Fisherman's House on five occasions. The House is delightful, centrally located, very comfortable and complete with modern facilities. Collioure and the Fisherman's House are a great combination.

Love them both.

“Lovely comfortable cottage in perfect location”

Spent a wonderful new year here and can't praise the cottage enough. Beautifully designed renovation of a traditional Collioure fisherman's house - we particularly loved the ground and second floor location of the bedrooms with the living room and kitchen in between - such a good use of the space, especially for two couples as we were, or a family with older kids. Well-equipped kitchen, comfortable seating and beds, lots of books, DVDs and useful information about the house and the area, and very helpful owner.
Excellent location in one of Collioure's narrow picturesque streets in the quieter side of town. A couple of minutes' walk to the beach and the lovely promenade between the sea and castle or go the other way to explore the maze of little streets.
Highlights of Collioure? Well, all of it, but a special mention for the bar of the Les Templiers hotel with its walls lined with paintings.
In the surrounding area, there's Ceret, like a town built in a forest, with its excellent modern art gallery; the Chateau de Valmy with its vineyard and beautiful park; Argeles Plage's sandy beaches, ducks and the local wine co-op's pavement cafe; Le Racou's boho main street, beachfront houses and the Menje E Caille fish restaurant - we love this area, visit it as often as possible, and could go on and on about its charms!
And we're looking forward to staying in this lovely Collioure cottage again.
