I stayed here for three nights and it's definitely a mixed bag. The location is super for getting around Montpellier and surrounding areas, a stone's throw from the tram line, and ten minutes walk to the central plaza. The rooms have been recently decorated, and are spotless. Staff do well to engage in several languages and are very helpful. Breakfast was included in my rate, and it was very appetizing (but expensive if not included).
But... There is a very bad smell on entry to the hotel (it remained for my entire stay). The hotel feels soulless - there is just no atmosphere. It badly needs some music to help it along. I looked at the bar menu for food and drink - and gave both a miss. It was eye wateringly expensive, even for a hotel. That may explain why no-one was at the bar at any point in my stay. (And this in turn diminishes the atmosphere again).
And beware - despite the photo (obviously taken with a VERY wide angle lens) this hotel does not have a large, inviting swimming pool! And the gym is a smallish room with around 6 machines and a yoga mat. (Yep, with no music or atmosphere again!)
By all means stay here as a handy base, but do yourself a favour and head out for food and drink, and don't expect any atmosphere.More
