This is a lovely hotel overlooking the aqueduct in Montpellier. Although our room was quite small the room and bathroom are beautifully done. The garden where you can have breakfast is so tranquil with a pond and shade. The owner has created a little oasis, a delightful place to stay. On Tuesdays there is a market along the aqueduct, one of the best we have sen. It's also close to the old town. Parking is available in a secure car park. The owner is very helpful

Room Tip: You can have a superior room at additional cost, but although small it was more than adequate

My first visit to Montpellier, I initially chose the Hotel des Arceaux because I like a bit of a walk from a conference venue (in this case, le Corum) and prefer smaller local enterprise to the big hotel chains. I booked for four nights but stayed for seven, choosing to linger there rather than race back to the nuttiness of springtime, already-busy Paris. The des Arceaux staff are very kind and helpful; the rooms comfortable and beautifully designed; the on-site breakfast economical and deliscious - and you have that wonderful backyard to eat it in (or enjoy a glass of wine in during the evening). Plus, two days a week there's a marvelous local market on the doorstep. I recommend this hotel very highly.

Room Tip: I loved my room which was on the third floor facing onto the boulevard. I'm pretty sure that the...

Stylish very comfortable boutique hotel 5 minutes from the historic centre. Impeccable modern design and comfort with fantastic staff to welcome and help one orientate in beautiful Montpellier. I have stayed here a few times and it just gets better: with summer starting, breakfast on their very attractive, verdant garden terrace is a delight. Wonderful breakfast worth taking even if you are not a resident. Avoids the noise of the centre with air-conditioned rooms in a well restored old building of character that captures Montpelliers past. A delight

Room Tip: Family rooms fabulous

7 hours from Zurich, we (sml family with mum& bishon frise) arrived at des Arceaux (easter 2014) with a v bubbly welcome from Natalya at reception. A superb hotel & room 301 with mix of modern & style of the Languedoc region. Loved the hotel with relaxing ambiance surrounded by beautiful Platane & palm trees at entrance and behind.

It's brilliant to visit a hotel where the reception (Pascal, Natalya & Bruno) share their insight and places to visit. 2 places worth mentioning are Sète and especially Saintguilhem.

If you love seafood and particularly oysters, Séte is perfect. 45 mins by car from Montpelier by the Mediterranean. We were fortunate to have the Russian and french galleys dock at Séte, visiting once every 2 years. and were treated by sailors in early century military regalia. Try Tillès, locally made pies with seafood, yumm. We had fresh oysters shucked at a stall by the pier at
10 euros for 12 pieces. Only downside was traffic home ... chaotic, you will need a GPS to get around, and home. but to be honest if you are mobile, use the train, mum's 70 so we needed the car.

The next day was a treat at http://www.saintguilhem-valleeherault.fr/, a definite must visit, frequented by the locals, about 35 mins drive from hotel. Abs beautiful and enchanting old village tucked away in the mountains, take a look at the link which explains it all. Even the drive there was enjoyable. Day was sunny and a walk around the town to visit the little shops and homes of the locals. Do visit the little art gallery with colourful oil canvas paintings of the region. The monastery exuded such peace and reflection. Bought a sml artistic brass rugged cross in remembrance of Lord Jesus resurrection over easter.

Local fruit and vege markets outside the hotel on Sat morning was pleasant and colourful. Montpelier old town is 15 min easy walk away from hotel. French locals were welcoming, polite and generally easy going, do try little restaurant sellling Crepes, good value and Joseph by the old town, for excellent french burgers and great vibes at night.

All in all, great experience, stay at the des Arceaux, wonderful quaint little hotel with polite and clever reception staff. if you have a car, do reserve as spaces are limited.

Enjoy.. my 1st review and hotel and experience was so nice that felt compelled to write a quick note., so apologies for shorthand and spellng mistakes.

This is a lovely little hotel in a great location. Within walking distance is the centre of Montpellier, walking through the beautiful garden of Peyrou and past a triumphal arch. It is situated near a busy road, with street markets taking place weekly, although we were not disturbed by any outside noise. Our small balcony overlooked the aqueduct which was stunning. As we arrived early, we were directed to the tranquil garden to relax under the canopy of trees while waiting for our room to be ready. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was small but perfectly equipped, modern and cleaned daily to a high standard. We had a very enjoyable stay and would highly recommend this hotel.

My Mother and Sister came to visit France. In Paris, I put them in a beautiful boutique hotel in the Marais, however they largely preferred Hotel des Arceaux. We live about ten minutes away walking so the location was perfect and quiet, a 5 minute walk from center city and they have a secluded, peaceful garden in the back that is perfect for breakfast or afternoon tea. The rooms were average size, very clean and comforting.

Dear Sarah,

Your opinion is gratefully received.

I am pleased you and your family had a great and relaxing time in Montpellier, and specifically in our house and its delighted garden for tea time( even through winter time season !)

It has been a pleasure for all the staff and I to welcoming your mother and sister in our hotel which has been renovated and recently decorated all through many years long, with classic rooms offering both the garden and the aqueduct view, superior rooms facing the arches with blue night illumination, in a peaceful location nearby the historic center and its facilities.

Your advice regarding your stay support us to focus on providing the best and suitable stay for our guests.

We look forward to welcoming you pretty soon.

The hotel is a lovely small hotel with very helpful, welcoming, friendly staff. Great restaurant recommendations! It is located in a quiet, nice, safe neighborhood near the aquaduct "des Arceaux" where there is a fantastic farmers market on Saturday mornings (great place to buy presents) just outside the hotel. It is about a 10 minute walk to the Arc de Triomphe on the edge of the Centre Ville where there are a lot of restaurants and about a 15 minute walk to INRA Supagro. The rooms are clean, comfortable, quiet, tasteful, and there is free WiFi. The breakfast is wonderful with fresh fruit, pastries, yoghurt, and a POT of coffee. You can even order eggs. The hotel as a lovely garden and an adorable cat.
