Best Western Hotel Le Guilhem
Ranked #30 of 93 Hotels in Montpellier
Reviewed 26 February 2013

Old hotel that has been modernised so unusual and very quirky. Our room was large and had everything we needed with a very comfortable bed. The furniture was a mix of modern and antique but was well thought out. The hotel is situated in a very quiet area but is close to the old town of Montpellier and there are lots of bars and restaurants around.
The staff in the hotel were friendly and helpful and very efficient. Breakfast was good and plentiful although the breakfast room is small and dark. There are however lots of tables outside on a terrace and in the garden which would be a lovely place to eat when the weather is warmer.
We arrived in the city by TGV and the hotel is about a 20 minute walk from the station and relatively easy to find. I am glad that we chose this hotel and would recommend it rather than some of the more modern blocks that are in Montpellier.

Expensive for a small room. The picture conjures up small and intimate but unfortunately the hotel is like a labyrinth with no actual redeeming features. The staff are friendly and helpful but the hotel feels like a series of corridors. This was the most expensive hotel in our three day trip and 13 euros for breakfast is also very steep in these cost conscious times.

Room Tip: Think money would be better spent elsewhere.

This hotel was recommended to me by Tripadvisor and by my son, who is a student there.
It's true, Le Guilhem is great. Tasty and well maintained private hotel in the very center of Centre Historique, old town of Montpellier.
The hotel is located on the small quiet pedestrian street (see photo). 2 minutes to Arc de Triomfe, 1 minute to Sent Pierre, 5 minutes to Comedy. Very cosy area.
Room was spacey and comfortable, with modern bathroom and great queen bad. Design of the room was moderate and nice, very French but not too much French. Balcony in our room was lovely (see photo).
Hotel staff is great. Friendly and really helpful.

I like this hotel very much, i'll go there again and would recommend Le Guilhem to friends.

Charming hotel set in a quiet cobbled street in the historic quarter . Our rooms were delightful and had views across the rooftops . Beds were SO comfortable it was difficult to leave them ! and bathrooms very well equipped. Staff super efficient and very friendly. We weren`t going to have the breakfast but changed our minds and were glad we did as it was copious and delicious with free newspapers available. There are two very good restaurants in the same street and a bakery to get fat for ! easy walking distance to explore the city . no criticism only more tea bags and milk in rooms please and price of items in mini bar prohibitive

Room Tip: we had rooms in the annex which were sunny ,and very quiet

Hotel Guilhem is in a quaint old cobbled street in the old town of Montpellier. Rooms are comfortable and bathrooms have been modernized. The reception staff are really charming and helpful. This was my second stay there, and I would go back. Some rooms have a wonderful view of the cathedral.

Room Tip: Choose a room which overlooks the cathedral

If you're looking for something quirky and different but with a high standard of comfort, cleanliness and service then this may well fit the bill. Its a lovely part of the old town, only about 10 minutes walk from the Place de la Comedie and with plenty of bars and restaurants around. We had a superior room on the first floor overlooking a courtyard restaurant and there was plenty of space and a good sized bathroom. We thought it was excellent value for money and would be very happy to stay there again.

We stayed only one night in this very nice hotel. It's in the old town and quite a trek from the railway station, mostly uphill. The welcome was warm and the room was well furnishedand comfortable. The bathroom was a good size with a powerful shower. The breakfast on the terrace was good and not rushed. It advertises free wifi but this was very slow and although the receptionist rebooted the system it made no difference.
