Best Hotel Montpellier Est
Ranked #77 of 93 Hotels in Montpellier
Reviewed 13 August 2014

We chose this hotel as it is located very close to the motorway and we only need to stop quickly for the night. The hotel is within 10 minutes walking distance to many trendy restaurants, shops, theater, shopping mall, and I believe an aquarium. This was handy so we could go for dinner.

This is clearly a budget hotel. Rooms were quiet but it did smell a bit like cigarette smoke. We had to open our window to freshen it up. The beds were good for a night only and the hotel was overall a little bit shabby. The front desk is helpful and were able to sell us wine! I wouldn't want to stay here for more than a night, maybe two at the most. It wasn't that comfortable and certainly was no frills. If you're not picky, and on a bit of a budget, this place will do just fine!

Was driving so booked this place near motorway and not too far (800m) from tram.
Got a fairly good deal which always softens the blow.No breakie which I don't like
but reading the other reviews maybe I was lucky.Shabby lobby like a cheap formula 1
but the room wasn't too bad.Small but clean.good shower.only free t.v. but a good
WiFi connect ion.Sound insulation was bad but I was so tired I would have slept in a
haggard so bear that in mind.
Tram is good and takes you quickly to centre where super Montpellier awaits and the"best"
part of the trip awaits ...

We stayed in Best Hotel Millenaire for a week. The comments on booking.com were confusing and we discovered afterwards, unreliable. Bus 9 finishes its schedule shortly after 8 pm so most of the evenings we had to walk 3 bus stop from the central tram line towards the hotel. At night there was hardly a soul, as the hotel is situated in a quiet, but industrial looking area. Breakfast price is steep for 9 euros a person a day, so we ate in town. Cleaning is done but if you happen to be in the room, they hand you fresh towels and bin liners to do it yourself. Noise insulation poor.
Expensive for the standards provided.

Room Tip: There is not much to choose from, as rooms are paired up as if one split into 2. Very small rooms.

We were traveling from Nice to the north of France. This was the first time experience for my children in France, therefore I wanted to provide a lovley stop on our journey for them. The hotel was reasonably presented from outside. The staff who greeted us were lovley. They spoke good English as soon as they detected my struggle with French. It felt very welcoming. Then we were presented with a bill for 2 rooms and a breakfast for family of four. The total cost of this was 164 Euroes! We were a bit bemused why it was so much for a two star hotel (but maybe because it was the high season). We paid .......................We went to our rooms......Lets put it kindly, if your chlostrophobic you would die! Even an average British broom cupboard is bigger! If you wanted to get to the other side of the bed you would have to scrape your backside across the filthy wall (I am not Kate Moss type, I am more Marilyn Monroe type). Despite that, my two childreen aged 12 and 13 are very skinny, and they had the same problem. The shower door wasn't there, and the mould and hair made the perimeter of the shower base black. May I mention that we are not a very tall family (5`7``), but our feet were hanging off the end of the bed, witch had white sheets with strands of human hair and suspicious stains. Now I am not even going to comment on the 2 sqared feet of carpet, leave that to your imagination (we couldnt even tell the original colour of it). The restaraunt.......Oh my God...... there is no service at all, we just had to figure it all out on our own, the food is not great (which is unusual for France, you could eat better in a service station on a French motorway). P.S. If you fancy a stay lilliput place and eat rubbish food, this is the place for you. But it's not for us! Best of luck!
