A perfect location within the old central ville of Nimes. . .small narrow streets, marche across the street and a Michelin restaurant within the block. Wonderful apartment with modern amenities including microwave, dishwasher, washer and dryer. A perfect apartment for a family or two couples.
Thank you Julie for sharing this wonderful property.
We were two couples staying at this flat in early October 2017 for 4 nights. We wanted to use Ninmes as our base to visit not only Nimes but Montpellier and Avignon. So a flat with parking was important to us.
An earlier review said parking was for small cars. We found this to not be the case. We had a 4 door small SUV type and it fit fine. One has to work with the narrow streets but very doable.
The flat itself was well appointed, had basic supplies of soaps and coffee, so did not have to purchase, and the flat felt like someone's home not an investment rental.
Huge thank you to aunt Tess for bringing us a larger coffee pot.
The flat is walking distance to the ancient sites and restaurants downtown, as well as a grocery and patisserie. For us, it worked out great.
When you stay at Julie's fantastic apartment you turn one way to go to the historic old town and you turn the other way to go to the historic beautiful gardens. Both are a leisurely 10 minute walk from the front door. Or, ha ha, you can easily just stay in the house in comfort and catch up on your holiday reading.
Everything about this house is convenient. It looks over a small neighbourhood park. Around the park is a supermarche, a boulangerie and a boucherie. Between the house and the old town and the public gardens are restaurants and cafes. If you drive to Nîmes the house has a secure garage. If you come by train it's a flat, 20 minute walk. (Or taxi for about €8.)
Nîmes is a well-preserved and important historic destination. It needs two full days to explore. That's three nights. But it's also a good place for an extended unwind with the family. Julie's house is absolutely ideal for a comfortable family vacation. There is a large properly-equipped kitchen with big table to relax around. There is a large living room with bigger table for special shared meals. Two bedrooms with ensuites. Very convenient laundry rooms. And, a secluded rooftop patio.
The pervading ambience is cool stone and tile comfort.
Nims is a nice city by walking. Not by car. Absolutely do not use a big car: does not fit in the street or in the garage.
