Small but had a diverse range of French and Italian paintings dating from the 1400's onwards.
A better gift shop would have been helpful as we would have bought posters of some of the paintings

The museum is in a lovely building. The collection is well worth visiting, with some good examples of Provençal landscapes. Particularly worth seeng is the large mosaic on the ground floor.

The museum boasts sculptures, paintings and beautiful architecture and makes for a good visit as it is not very large which allows one to concentrate more fully on the works exhibited. The museum currently exhibits works (paintings and drawings) by the Nimes-born painter Charles-Joseph Natoire as well as other French, Italian and Flemish works. One room displays paintings dedicated to "paysages provençaux) or Provence-landscapes, which is interesting and stimulating as visitors to the region see the natural landscape presented so well in paintings from different artists. The great perk of this museum is that it is free for, among others, anyone younger than 25. A tip to any travellers to Nimes who are either staying in Avignon or going to visit Avignon is to make use of the Edgard-busline to shuttle between the two cities instead of going by train. For 1.50 (one-way ticket) the E51 line takes you from Avignon's bus-depot to Nimes' and the buses pass several times during the day. I live in Avignon and made use of the buses as they are significantly cheaper than trains (albeit slower) and it's great for travellers on a budget to travel between the two cities for 3 Euro (return-ticket)
