Owner description: The Tour Magne, i.e. the Great Tower, is the only tower left standing from the Roman city walls. The top of the tower of 140 steps provides a striking panoramic view of Nimes.

“Beautiful view”
Reviewed 5 August 2013

The tower is set in a very beautiful park. The park contains the ruins of the temple of Diana which were set in a beautiful garden. The tower was interesting and provided a stunning view over Nimes.

“Breathtaking view of Nîmes”
Reviewed 3 August 2013

The walk up to la Tour Magne through Jardins de a Fontaine was relaxing and and scenic. As we walk, ancient stone landscaping unfolds and reveals flowerbeds, fountains and sculpures. Huge trees punctuate the landscape to shade us on our way up the fairly steep climb to the top on the hill. It must have been about 33ºC that day so we were glad that we had a bottle of water on the way up and more relieved yet to find the restaurant on our way back down to the Jardins by the Temple of Diana.
Once at the top, you are presented with La Tour Magne with its narrow, steep, spiral stairs to the top. It's well worth the climb for the view, but I wish they would put further limits on the number of people they allow up at one time. On that hot day, it felt a bit claustrophic.

“The gardens are lovely”
Reviewed 29 July 2013

The gardens below the tower are lovely and there is a restaurant. As you climb up towards the tower there are lots of spot for a picnic. When you get to the tower there are lovely views of Nîmes and the surrounding countryside.

“Great view of the city”
Reviewed 21 July 2013

Though it takes a little bit time to walk and climb up to the monument, one may find it worthy to go up to the top just because of its 180-degree's city view.

The monument locates at the top inside the park, The Jardins de la Fontaine. The sign leading to the monument is not very clear indeed. But one can find the way to lead to the top and that's it.

There is entrance fee. If one plans to visit The Roman Arena and Manison Carree, there is a special combo ticket for these 3 monuments at a better price compared to buying tickets separately.

“Very Old and Great Views in the Park”
Reviewed 10 April 2013

It does cost around 7.50€ to walk up he stairs. But, you can still go in on the main level for free to check it out. The park grounds that it is on is beautiful. It is a vey short walking distance from Nimes Parthenon.
