“Nice Hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 October 2013

We stayed here one night in October. Nice simple hotel with small rooms typical of Europe, very comfortable and clean. Located just a short walk from all of the main attractions in Nimes. We were on the 2nd floor and the wifi worked just fine. Front desk service was friendly and helpful in finding our way around the City (English was spoken). Someone mans the desk 24 hours so there is always someone there if you need anything. We parked a short distance away in the garage at Porte Auguste near the church. For the price of 62 Euros, we had everything that we needed. Would stay again.

Near the church. The rooms were comfortable and well decorated - an apparent rarity in France. The manager was very nice and helpful in giving advice and/or recommendations. The only downsides are that the wireless network did not seem to reach our third floor room, and that the Temple is near the far end of the tourist district/center of the city (about a half mile walk from either the Colisseum or Roman Temple).

The Hotel is located in the 'old' town, where sightseeing is possible in walking distance.
The reception is eager to fulfil all your wishes, where it is advised to communicate these in front of your stay, email's are responded to immediately.
Breakfast is 'a la carte' and kindly served by Eric.
Room was very quiet, as the hotel is not located on the main road, this is probably te case for all rooms.
Price/Quality for room and breakfeast is very good.

Room Tip: When you make your reservation, just specify what you want; twin/french bed, shower/bad, garage (lim...

We stayed 3 years ago at the Acanthe du Temple, and this time we booked 8 nights, as we knew what to expect.
The first room we were offered, though large was a smoking room and had an awkward shower/bath setup, so we asked for a different room and got one with two Queen size beds, a large table, wardrobe and a window that opened onto a side street which at most times is quiet, except for the occasional motorbike and street cleaning machines.
A separate toilet and a reasonable bathroom with a good shower and hairdryer made for a comfortable stay for such a long time.
The wifi is very good, a ceiling fan and a radiator and crisp sheets completes the picture.
We didnt take breakfast but it looked good; typical French with coffee, juice, breads and croissants.
The hotel is very close to all the sights, eating and shops with what we consider one of France' best Les Halles.

Very pleasant hotel on the edge of the old town - yet very much on the 'right' side in terms of being in a quiet, scenic quarter. Also makes it very convenient walking distance for all the town's sights - from the unique Roman remains to the wonderful park, as well as the railway station for getting out-and-about.

The staff were marvellous, all really friendly and obliging. The man who seemed like the manager had particularly good English.

Rooms are fully functional, not least if you are intending to be out sightseeing during the day and dining out in the evening. Free Wi-Fi is really handy, particularly with no English-speaking TV. There was a faint odour on first entering the room, clearly it is/has been used by smokers, but nothing a few minutes with the windows open can't solve.

All-in-all really enjoyed our second visit in 8 years, would happily go back a third time.

Room Tip: We believe the larger rooms are to the left of top of the stairs, as one ascends them, than those to...

A wonderful stay. I have seen a few hotels in my trip; this one had the best value for money. Welcoming and charming establishment, exploited since 1971, by the same family, I‘ve believed understood! They have a cosy clean hotel with all comfort, congratulations, it’s successful.

Great hotel in good location. Garage was available (in high season may need to reserve?) otherwise large carpark in square nearby. All staff really friendly. Rooms are really lovely - looks like a recent refurb. Would def stay again :)
