“Small nice older style hotel well located”
Reviewed 1 September 2013 via mobile

We spent a night here prior hiring a canal boat from Le Boat which is near by. The hotel was an older style with small but adequate room, very well fitted out with A/C TV flat screen etc. it was well located a fair walk from the station but doable and right near the historical part of town, with lots of restaurants and cafes nearby. Staff were very obliging and spoke english which helped. Breakfast was cold buffet, plenty of it but lacked the cooked elements so for us just adequate. A very enjoyable well priced and located hotel.

We only stayed one night as we travelled to Narbonne by train en route to hiring a 'Le Boat' cruiser on the Canal du Robine. Canal du Midi. We were really impressed with the welcome, the quality and cleanliness of the room, the superb breakfast (with real tablecloths and cotton napkins!
If we ever use Narbonne as a base for a holiday in South of France, this would be the hotel of First Choice

Room Tip: We were at the back of the hotel, our friends were at the front - No difference road is very quiet...

We stayed at this hotel in May 2013 before our trip on the Canal du Midi. We chose this hotel because we had stayed here previously in 2009. We liked the hotel then and it was even better this time since it had been remodeled. We had a double superior room, the beds were comfortable, the bathroom well lit with a good shower and the rooms were good size. We asked in advance to be in a room near our travelling companions and they were right next door to us. The breakfast was good and we were close to shopping, restaurants, and the canal - we certainly enjoyed our stay in Hotel La Residence and Narbonne - we would certainly stay in this hotel again!

Room Tip: Choose a double superior room - rooms 29 & 30

Stayed in a Superior Room on 1st Floor, Room 17 with it's Juliet Balcony above the entrance to the hotel. Although the room was on the small side it was very comfortable & well presented. The bathroom was certainly great after a week on a boat! The reception rooms are very loud in their decor but other than breakfast we didn't spend time in them. Breakfast was ok think for 12E it could be better but you only have to walk a small distance to the square & there is a lot of choice. Narbonne is stunning, well worth visiting. There is major construction work going on along parts of the canel front but the restaurants are not affected by this, it will certainly be stunning when construction is completed. A must visit is the Food Market, we were there on a Sunday & it was brilliant, it closes at 2pm & by 1pm it starts to quieten down so atmosphere changes, take your camera for some quirky shots! Would we stay at La Residence again - yes most definitely if we ever visit Narbonne again.

We (a married couple and a female friend, all about 65), stayed in two rooms in this hotel for two nights in late May 2013.
The rooms were well-appointed and very clean, the beds were comfortable and everything worked well. The continental breakfast was good, but a bit expensive. The staff were always helpful. It is close to restaurants and a ten minute walk to the station.

We stayed in Narbonne for just one night as we were picking up a
LeBoat boat for a week on the Canal du Midi. This little town surprised me , very cute . A canal rubs through town and they are in the process of renovating the area along side it. At first glance the hotel doesn't impress but once you walk through the door it's charms become apparent. The very helpful Kathryn behind the desk is from Wales ( hope I remembered that correctly!) and was extremely helpful . She directed me to all the right spots for boating supplies..a wonderful little gourmet shop and a FABULOUS covered market. The food stalls in the market were outstanding.
The hotel room was large, very clean and very comfortable, the bathroom was large, very modern and well appointed with excellent hardware. A nice continental buffet in the cute breakfast room. The hotel is just down the street from the old Abbey/archbishops palace that is on the cafe lined town square. Kathryn directed us to a great little restaurant just past the square. Very helpful and very convenient location..made me wish we'd arrived a day earlier!

Stayed while visiting Narbonne for 2 nights. Hotel is in a great location, near to the Canal Robine, Covered Market, and the 2 main historic districts. Limited parking available on-site but also at the Mediatheque which is only 3 blocks away. Rooms are very large and have nicely appointed bathrooms. Staff very helpful with directions, and dinner recommendations. Nice lounge where you can have a glass of wine from the region and they also have WiFi and a computer that you can use in the lobby area.

Room Tip: Not on a major street so any room is okay from a noise standpoint.
