“A big disappointment and a very small room”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 September 2012

Although I applaud anyone's efforts to be 'green' that is about the best thing I can say. I'd read the reviews and thought it would be ok, but the room was small and pokey, the bed was so low that it was almost on the floor and it was very small. The bathroom was clean, but resembled more of a holiday chalet type quality. The balcony overlooking the Court - turned out to be right above the bar where people were smoking and I could almost shake hands with the people in the hotel opposite at the back.
The breakfast was very basic and not very nice although the coffee was good. The pool was more like a large bath and the seating area around it was uninviting. The staff were helpful but I did not feel welcome and as this was one of the most expensive hotels we'd staying in during our 10 day trip I felt very disappointed.

Hello,

I want to thank you will of having given your review to our hotel and thank you for supporting our work in environmental matters.
The rooms have an area of 15 square meters, including 2.50 for the bathroom, it is a standard size for a three star we only have two
The beds are at a height of 45 cm above the ground (feet = 9 cm, slatted upholstered = 15 cm and mattress = 21 cm) 45 cm is the height of a seat for a chair!
Nevertheless we planning to reassemble this height during the months for our rooms woman is less difficult to make the beds, which should suit you if you come back to see us?
I do not understand the comparison with a bathroom holiday chalet type quality.,Could you explain?
The balconies overlook the patio and not a "courtyard" which is actually the restaurant terrace and the hotel for breakfast you find "basic" but what does it mean for a basic breakfast with juice € 8.00 orange, hot drinks( thank you for the good coffe), toaster, bread, sliced bread, biscuits, pastries, fresh frut, jams (3), Garrigue honey (local production), butter, cheese, ham, yogurt (Activia, nature, fruits) the just WILLINGNESS 7.45 to 11.00 h ......
You send me your contrite disappointment we consider your comments to do better.
May be you will come back?

Cordially

A tight schedule when booking this hotel, actually made us end up in Narbonne-Plage instead of the city centre of Narbonne. In hindsight a place by the beach was just what we needed so it ended up being a good "mistake" anyway.

As for the hotel we hade decided to save a few bucks on this nights stay, and De La Clape looked ok. Free parking outside the hotel is a nice touch. Our first impression when walking in the entrance wasn't good as we weren't greeted (I think the lady was in her own minds for a minute there), but once she noticed us that impression was changed instantly.

As there were no stairs and she saw us struggling a bit with the bags, she insisted to help my gf with the bags. Also when lacking the code for Internet, she was on our door with the code slip, before we even managed to put on shoes to get down to collect it. It's the little things that matters, and those changed our impression of the hotel at once. Instead of looking for faults your end up looking for positives.

The hotel definately a two star. The room is decent sized, but the bed only had a thin mattress and was very hard. Concrete walls/floor, but good enough for a nights stay. A small balcony overlooking the pool area gave some air. Room also had A/C.

As for the pool area we never used it, but noticed that the chairs/pillows were kinda "strange". Iron chairs and some heavy pillows/mattresses, but I'm sure they did the job. We didn't eat breakfast or food there, so can't say anything about that.

In general the hotel is very nice. Good service and although it's very close to a 4, it ends up on a 3 as the beds means quite much to me having a troublesome back. A better mattress next time, and the grading will be better. However, it needs to be said that I will advice people to stay here if they're on a budget and are looking for a small and cozy hotel

Hello,

Thank you for having taken of your time to
give your views on our hotel.
We should be making changes to our bedding. These changes will intervene over a period of a few months.
But it is difficult to find the correct level of bedding
among those who prefer to a comfort hard, semi-hard or soft, more must consider the weight and size of individuals; difficult exercise. If we had a structure a hundred rooms we could have all these types of bedding and requested the preference of each!
We take into account your opinion and strive to find a solution or an answer.

I invite you to contact us for more information. the pleasure

cordially

We stayed at the Hotel de la Clape for one night at the end of May on our way to the very south east of France. It is a brilliant little hotel. the couple who own it couldn't do enough for us. The room was small but spotlessly clean with free wi-fi. We had the rate that included table d'hote dinner. The dinner was really good. The wine was of course extra but it was local and very good. Breakfast was good too. Overall this hotel was great value for money and had brilliant service. I would not hesitate to go back or to recommend it to others.

My wife and I stayed a night at this hotel after touring the Camargue. Narbonne plage seemed to us to be mainly a french family seaside resort rather than a tourist destination. The beach was very wide and sandy. Kids would love it. We had a very good seafood meal at the hotel's restaurant as well as a nice breakfast the next morning. Our room was simple and clean. The bath had a tub and hand shower. The Saturday market at near by St. Pierre was lively and colorful.

No frills or fuss. Nice little family run hotel. Clean, tidy, quiet and close to all the action. Had no problem dealing with the children and were very friendly. Excellent restaurant - so popular we had to book it even though we were staying there. Not the most luxurious but better than the official 2 star rating.
Everything you need for very reasonable cost. Given the chance we would go back.

Delightfully relaxed and friendly little family-run hotel set back from the main drag, a couple of minutes' walk from the beach. Our suite had a Moroccan feel to it, which heightened the sense of a Mediterranean holiday. We didn't try the restaurant - there are so many other places to eat nearby.

Room Tip: Some of the balconies don't offer any privacy. It may be possible to request one that is private...

This is a well placed hotel for a seaside break within easy distance of the seafront and restaurants. We were given a courteous welcome and offered the choice of the disabled room which we took, though we hadn't prebooked it,. It is quite spacious, though the bed seemed low
which might be problematic for someone completely wheelchair bound. The room is very close to the swimming pool which in September was no problem but might be noisy in the height of Summer. The air condioning was excellent and privacy was assured by an electric shutter. The room and ensuite were always very well cleaned and towels changed daily. We enjoyed our four night stay at this hotel and would recommend it.
