Someone has spent a lot of making this hotel their idea of chic, the pool is brand new and is very 'Essex'. The rooms are large and at one point probably impressive but now they look dated. This is not necessarily a bad thing, the bed is comfortable, the mini bar is well stocked and there is space outside.

But don't stay here for more than a couple of days as when you explore the area, it is at the back of Alcampo and a shopping centre. Also the beers are a ridiculous €9, and having stayed at more luxurious hotels, question the flamboyant pricing.

If you are playboy, Essex girl, ageing hippy this hotel may appeal to you. The fact that we are interested in all aspects of culture, meant that this was fascinating.

It was nice enough but wouldn't go back.

We stayed for a single night on the way from Spain to our holiday destination in France. This was perfect as a stopover and base. The staff were first rate and very accomodating - even shifting our dinner reservation so that we could finish our meal on the terrace outside our room whilst our 10month old was sleeping. The pool is fun and the restaurant first rate - obviously very popular with the locals. Not much to do locally, but then we didn't want to explore. Easy access to the motorway and for our purposes ideal.

Room Tip: Lower floor suites facing the garden - quiet with easy access to the gardens and pool.

We stayed for a night on the way down to Spain. We probably wouldn't stay here again (either in Perpignan or at the Villa Duflot), but that is probably due more to our personal tastes, rather than any inherent flaws in the hotel.

The room itself was very comfortable and thoughtfully decorated. (It had been advertised as a "junior suite", though it was definitely just one average-sized room.)

But for us, the 'vibe' wasn't quite right: from the design of the hotel (it felt a bit like a fancy motel) to the tone of the restaurant. (Logos on the wine glasses, overly-loud music, etc.).

I think my parents would have enjoyed it, but it really wasn't my cup of tea.

We arrived to the deafening sound of a percussion drill as builders were undertaking major restoration works to the hotel, which continued for the entire 7 days of our stay. The swimming pool was out of service and the entrance to the restaurant shrouded in temporary partitions as a result. Apologies from management but no forewarning before our arrival and no offer of a discount or complementary gift (of a bottle of wine eg). Not good

The restaurant was part of the renovation work and the works evolved during our stay. The (demi-pension) dinner menu was virtually identical for the entire 7 days, with items moved up or down the page to give the impression of changes, but in fact there were virtually none. Also certain items carried a supplementary charge on some nights but not on other nights when a supplement was added to other items that had not had one previously. Bizarre and not good. On our last night there were no supplementary charges at all!?

The food in general was very good, but for the reason noted above it was difficult to vary one's selection of each course of dishes because the choices were same every night. Service was acceptable although our order-taker had the table-side manner and demeanour of a HGV driver, rather than server in a quality restaurant

Dear sir,
we just finished today, 7th of june 2014 the full renovation of the restaurant and hotel lobby , we completed our terrace with an amazing stainless swimming pool, the terrace and all the restaurant area. We are now able to take care of our guests with the best standards. We also provide new 42' or 46' TV Philips flat screen with more of 80 international TV channels in every room.
Concerning your restaurant bill lowering from one day to another, it's because we have special Week End menu from friday to sunday including 3 meals for 33eur (including taxes and VAT)
We consider your opinion and will try to give more information to our guest in the future.
We hope you'll get the true Villa Duflot experience on your next stay with us.

I was a little concerned on reading reviews describing the hotel as situated on a roundabout near a commercial centre. What on earth had my husband booked? However, although the description is accurate, I was really pleasantly surprised with how tucked away and quiet the hotel was. Our room was a good size, clean and warm. Since we stayed in January there were not many residents, but the restaurant was extremely popular with the locals and we were pleased we had booked. We had a lovely table overlooking the pool area, and the food was of a high standard. The waiters were attentive, translating the menu as required, and made time to stop and chat. The reception staff were helpful, printing maps of the area we wished to visit. My only criticism is that there are no tea/ coffee making facilities in the room, which is a big thing for me as I'm desperate for a cup of tea when I wake. However, I recognise this is a French/Spanish thing and it didn't spoil our stay one bit.

The Villa Duflot is a beautiful hotel styled as a “Mas Provencal”. The main building, containing the hotel rooms, is built around a landscaped courtyard with a fountain. The rooms are generous in size with a fair amount of closet space. The desk area is well set up with adequate light and sufficient plugs so that you don’t have to unplug the light to plug in your computer. Most rooms have a balcony overlooking the courtyard. In warmer weather I would have really enjoyed sitting out there. The staff is pleasant enough but reception is somewhat understaffed as you may have to wait quite a while to check-out.
The restaurant is billed as gastronomic and seems to be very popular with the locals. While the food is good, is not quite what we consider gastronomic. “La fricassée de homard aux orecchiette et pistil de saffron de Maureillas” could have done without the candied ginger.

The staff at this hotel were all exceptionally helpful and courteous. Our rooms were spacious and comfortable, although some of the decor is a little tired, and the hotel restaurant is beautifully placed overlooking pool and garden. We spent 4 nights here with 3 children between 10 and 16 in an adjoining room. The hotel is situated on the southern outskirts of Perpignan. What we hadn't realised is that it is next to a roundabout and a centre commercial and close to the ring road and motorway (and a rather large prison!). Convenient for travel but not quite the bucolic location we had anticipated. The garden and internal courtyard are really beautifully laid out and it feels very peaceful. But the air conditioning had been switched off as it was late October, and consequently the rooms were stuffy unless the sliding windows were kept open at night. Which meant that we heard traffic noise and were bothered by mosquitoes. We ate lunch at the restaurant, which is very popular with non-residents and evidently a popular local venue. The fixed lunch menu was good value and some of the food was really delicious, but it also seemed quite heavy considering the weather, mid 20's, (veal kidney and potatoe puree, or creme brulee with foie gras - yes, really) and a bit old-fashioned. However, it seems extremely popular with the local business clientele. I had a beautifully prepared sea bream, so there were alternatives, and the waiter was very happy to ask the chef to prepare an alternative for two picky children who did not want either kidneys or fish. Would recommend for one or two nights or for a meal out. Not really a city break hotel, more of a nice stopover en route to Spain or coming back.
