Went three times on a visit to perpignan the atmosphere, food and wine were all superb. We had the set menu which was great value as the wine list also was well priced we came away at under 60 euros for two you can't complain at that. The staff were great and even though we didn't have a booking for the Saturday night the staff recognised us and made us comfortable. Very Central try it.

We visited Casa Sansa on a Saturday night in September. We'd seen it earlier in the week and the restaurant looked inviting and popular even on a Tuesday night. So we made a reservation and were pleased to see our name was first on the booking list!

Great we thought. We'll get some good seats for Saturday night.

We arrived on time for our meal and found ourselves to be sat in possibly the worst place to be seated. We were so far from the restaurant we might as well have been sat in another place!

Unfortunately this was the least of our problems. We had to wait over 45 minutes to even get a menu. You may wonder why we stayed this length of time and to be honest as I write this I am wondering the same thing, but it was Saturday night and we appreciated the place was busy, also we worried that if we left our seats to go and find another place to eat we might have struggled and ended up at Le Quick. Although, I am sure we would have had better service there.

Eventually the menus arrived with not an apology or even acknowledgement! We then had to wait another 45 minutes before our wine even arrived. This time we did get up and find someone to ask ever so politely where our wine had got to and yet again, no apology.

We had to ask 'again' where our starters where after waiting another ridiculousy long time for the food! By this time we had sat for nearly an hour and 45 minutes without anything to eat or drink! It had almost become a joke. Almost...

To be fair when the food did arrive it was lovely. So hats off to the chefs. But the service was horrendous. Even a simply apology or acknowledgement would have been sufficient. But we got neither. It felt like we were a hindrance to the restaurant for daring to expect to be fed!

At first we didn't complain as we appreciate French service is more laid back and we understand that. But this was way and beyond the norm after having it confirmed by the lovely couple we spoke to from Montpellier who had arrived at the same time as us, but were well on their way home after dinner whilst we were still awaiting for our main courses to arrive!

What a shame that the slow to virtually non-existent service lets down such good food and one of the best locations to eat in the town.

Just got back from Perpignan, where I'm pleased to say the Casa Sansa restaurant is open for business once again. It's VERY popular, and for the first time in seven years, we failed to get a table - it was just too full! The menu is traditional Catalan/.French, and it looks as though one or dishes have been retained from earlier menus at this restaurant. So best to book your table for a great meal!

In Perpignan for the splendid music festival (check out local band The Terrific Turkeys who played on the hoof around 11pm - brilliant). Trawled around a number of restaurants before settling on CS - sitting outside the restaurant we were treated to first class service. Opting for the fixed three course special at 19.50€ with the obligatory cheeky demi (or two) of house rose. The food was beautiful -starters of charcuterie, mains of lamb and calimar followed by glace and tarte citron. Regular fill ups of cold water and the most wonderful artisan bread.. highly recommended.

...Casa Sansa is closed, and has been for some time. A great pity - who knows the reasons behind these things? But we were there in June 2013, and it's well and truly NOT open for business.
