“Parfait--when in Southern France”
Reviewed 28 May 2014 for a stay in April 2014

We stayed in the Petite Maison, part of Maison de Matrisse in Saint Maximin with the charming Amanda Taylor Ace and her equally charming friend and assistant Judy Winter (both native New Zealanders) in mid April 2014. The wonderful, quiet little town of St. Maximin near Uzes was our base for 8 nights and days and from there we went all over Southern France including Montpellier, Nimes, Avignon and numerous towns in Luberon and the Côtes du Rhône region.
There are wonderful restaurants near by (most notably L'Authentic in Saint Siffret), wineries, Pont du Gard - which we kayaked under- trails to hike and a wonderful pool at Maison de Maitress to simply lounge around. If going to So. France check out Amanda's place! Especially good for groups of travelers.

Liked best: The location, Amanda (and Judy!), St.Maximin, accessibility to Southern France/Provence, Uzes, the pool, the charm/quaintness/friendliness and unpretentiousness, meeting various residents of Saint Maximin including Deputy Mayor Gabe!

“A wonderful French experience”
Reviewed 31 August 2013 for a stay in July 2013

We stayed at the Maisons Petite e' Maitresse with 9 of our family / family friends. What a beautiful old village St Maximim is. You are so close to Uzes (the markets are a must on Saturdays) & kayaking down the Pont Du Gard. Amanda was a wonderful host and Judy is one of the best french chefs I have experienced - rabbit and foie gras! Take a week out of your life and spend it here with some cheap french wine and bread, you will wish you had done it earlier!
