“Classy retreat in a breathtaking setting”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 May 2013

Classy Artemise is all about discreet elegance and welcoming atmosphere. The beautiful old mas was totally refurbished and hosts several extremely comfortable, quiet, modern, individually decorated and simply beautiful rooms. The views of the surrounding countryside is amazing and the charming city center of Uzes is a short walk away. Artemise boasts also a spa, an outdoor and an indoor swimming pool and a Michelin mentioned(!), excellent restaurant!
Most importantly Benoit with his team make this place so welcoming that I'm already thinking about going back... A bientôt!

This hotel is a dream place. With the "middle age" stone buildings, you immediately feel nice and comfortable.

We stayed at the Artemise for a team event. Every member of the team loved the place. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. Each room has a specific artistic touch with famous artists' photographs, paintings or videos on walls.

The meeting room is charming.

The service is perfect. The restaurant is excellent.

We have not noticed any weakness in this hotel. We all loved our stay.

The price we paid was well worth it.

Room Tip: All rooms are quiet and spacious. The price depends mainly on the room size. I loved the rooms I had...

We stayed for 3 nights in August. The room Acqua was amazing and the food was very inventive. Will return again. Pool area very nicely done and views from our room were lovely (Mont Ventroux in the distance). Breakfast was particularly delicious. It is on the pricey side but it is an oasis beside the lively town of Uzes. Hosts and staff were very pleasant. The evening meal with the set surprise menu may be a little constraining for some but I enjoyed all the courses.

As other guests we found l'artemise from trying to book its sister accomodation Clos du Léthè. We were really excited when we were told that there are rooms available as the pictures on their website look excellent. Hence we booked five nights in the suite Hope and it was exactly as shown on the pictures. Spacious, very comfortable bed, great bath, exciting art, sat-tv. Just perfect!

We had an Ipad in our room with songs personally compiled by Benoit. It was awesome to start a day by listening to our song My Way (Frank Sinatra) as well as to other great songs. The compilation of songs is truely fantastic as there were songs or interprets for everybody's taste.

We have been to many exclusive hotels but never ever did we have such a fantastic breakfast as at l'artemise. Pierre, le dieu de petit déjeuner, pampered us and perfectly prepared each of our breakfasts. In particular we loved the personal note and the personally prepared things such as the cakes and the various mousses.

After breakfast we either did some exercises in the gym or we went to the pool for a swim and for relaxing. The gym was very pleasant and it had good Technogym equipment. There are plenty of chairs and sun beds around the pool.

We also had a dinner and a lunch at the restaurant l'artemise and we found this to be exceptional. See separate review for more information.

In fact, one cannot describe in words how perfect the l'artemise is. The l'artemise is a place which you don't want to leave but woud like to return as soon as possible. We certainly will return!

Thank you Benoit & Pierre and Pierre.

Best,
Flavio and Maja

Room Tip: We had suite Hope but I am sure that all rooms are great.

We stayed in two properties in uzes and they were both completely different in styles but both glorious.
Here you will stay in a truly spacious and comfortable room with the best bed we have slep in whilst travelling, I am sure it was a Texas king size!
The hosts were very helpful and friendly and the property offers an outside and inside pool and spa.
Breakfasts were very very good, truly restaurant quality and served by great people.
We also enjoyed a meal at their restaurant, modern French, with excellent wines.
Not cheap, but you get what you pay more.
The rooms are decorated with the owners artwork and have comfy lounges, all are truly first class. There is basic cooking facilities and a small fridge, all very helpful for travellers.
Again, accommodation is not cheap, but we would rate it as value for money.
Everything about the property and our stay was first class.

I found L'artemise from trying to book its sister accommodation. I was very excited when I was told there was availability as it looked really nice on the internet. When we arrived it lived it to its expectations. The setting is beautiful. We were greeted and shown to our fabulous room. We stayed in the Aquae room which we loved. A distinct feature was the glass wall with a projected image from a scene in NZ, very soothing to watch while laying in bed. The bed was really comfortable, the bathroom was so luxurious. The attention to detail is really thought out, the décor is stylish even down to the taps on the sink and bath. The view from our room was beautiful.
One of my favourite parts of our stay at L'artemise was the breakfast; we were treated to a feast each morning. We still talk about the fig moose. The pool area is also a treat, we loved the day beds.
Be sure to book in one night to the restaurant which as we described afterwards was a culinary delight! The setting is also lovely.
The town of Uzes is really close by. Uzes itself is a beautiful place which just added to the overall wonderful experience we had. I stayed here with my husband and we felt like we were on a second honeymoon. Benoit is a wonderful host and very professional. He was very helpful with any requests. If you would like to treat yourself to a memorable stay is Uzes book into L'artermise.

L’Artemise more than exceeded my expectations upon arrival. We pulled up to to this old, mildly secluded chateau and curiously went around the corner into a garden of elegantly laid tables ready to accept restaurant guests and were quietly greeted by the chefs and restaurant staff all sitting around the table eating lunch, looking exhausted already from half a days’ work of laboring away in the kitchen to create perfection for their guests. We opened a heavy ancient wood door and walked up the faded old steps highlighted by modern silver colored shapes painted by a local artist (you will have to go see it yourself to understand their purpose). Co-owner Benoit cheerfully greeted us and having remembered my birthday, offered us a surprise upgrade to a suite! My lucky day!

The two-room suite was anything but ancient. Two flat-screen televisions, deep brown teak looking wood flooring in the bathroom and the shower (!), an iPod with Benoit’s hand-picked playlists and a long stone bathtub and floated sparingly around this minimalist grey colored space dotted with bright orange artistic features. Only the small windows around the room that opened up to reveal stunning views of the surrounding countryside reminded you that you were actually in Provence to create a unique contrast.

The food, holding true to the online reviews, was sensational. Every morning consisted of tumbling out onto the stone balcony in the chateau presented with a perfect mix of breakfast of meats and cheeses, fresh fruits, homemade yogurts and chocolate croissants followed by a daily changing breakfast cake.

The candle-lit garden restaurant in the evening was relaxing and romantic. It was almost as if you were eating in a luxury garden chez toi (not a London home), but knowing you were about to get more exquisite food that you could ever drum up, no matter how good of a chef you actually are! Savory flavors straight from the garden and other local produce and meat found its way onto my plate and I had to restrain myself from inhaling these mouth-watering bites.

Not to forget – there is also a pool on one side of the garden and a separate house in the back that the owners are turning into a first class gym, but in all honesty, between cycle rides to the Pont du Guard and tours of the Chateauneuf-du-Pape wineries, we didn’t even have much time for the pool and gym part of the trip.

In summary, l’Artemise was the perfect answer to my calls for a perfect weekend of food, sun, wine and relaxation. Yet, there was just one thing… although of a lovely linen fabric, the guest bathrobes in the closet were not Ligne de Soie silk robes:)) Regardless, I will most certainly find my way back in the future.
