“Great little place in the heart of Uzès”
Reviewed 9 November 2016 for a stay in October 2016

Spent 4 weeks here with my wife and had a wonderful time. The location was perfect, right within the circle of the mediaeval town, within easy walking distance of the market, shops, and restaurants. In addition to the fantastic farmers markets on Saturdays and Wednesdays, there is a friendly little grocer just around the corner with high quality products. One of the best restaurants in town, Boca, is about 30 yards/meters away.

The place consists of 4 very small floors, although the owner told me they are beginning renovations to make the basement accessible as well. The two of us were perfectly comfortable in the given space for a month. The living room contains a pull-out sofa bed, so more than two people can stay. It might be a bit tight for four adults, unless for a shorter stay or with very very good friends. Keep in mind that there are no interior doors separating rooms. Each floor is a separate, open space connected by stairs. So we could easy have conversations even when on separate floors. The other thing to note if you have young children and/or bad knees, is that the stairs are very steep. A degree of caution is required.

Having said that, we were there for a month with no problems at all, and enjoyed our time there immensely.

And if you've never been to Uzès, I absolutely recommend a visit. It's a wonderful little town in the countryside, surrounded by farms, vineyards, and several even smaller villages that are close enough to bike to. Uzès itself is small enough to be beautiful and relaxing, but big enough that there are amenities and attractions, and at least several restaurants open even on the slowest of days. But with restaurants I highly recommend making reservations, or at least calling ahead to make sure they are open, even in the off season and regardless of times posted on their websites. That's especially true in the smaller villages.

“Unique townhouse on 4 levels in the historical centre of Uzes”
Reviewed 30 June 2016 for a stay in June 2016

This townhouse is in an ideal location in the heart of Uzes. The house has four floors with a room on each level. Ground level has the shower/storage room, first floor is the TV/living room, second is the bedroom/toilet and third is the kitchen/meals area with views over the rooftops of Uzes. Uzes is a wonderful place to use as a base for sightseeing in the Languedoc region. We loved the house and its quirkiness but if you don't like going up and down steep stairs this is probably not for you. Alexander is an excellent communicator, even though he doesn't live in Uzes. He checked everything was fine with the house shortly after our arrival and gave us tips on places to eat and things to do. The free international landline calls were a wonderful bonus. We enjoyed our week in this townhouse and loved the beautiful town of Uzes.

“Bijou but fun”
Reviewed 15 June 2016 for a stay in May 2016

This is an unusual property, but Alex has done a great job of turning it into a well-equipped holiday base. As he makes clear, you do need to be reasonably fit to stay in a house where each of the 4 rooms is on a different level. It probably helps to be under 6' tall as well! We found it best to come down backwards.
Our favourite room was the top-floor loggia / kitchen, with the view across rooftops to the Duchy. The sitting room is also very comfortable.
One downside - the bed was too firm for our taste.
Communications with Alex were excellent.

“Lovely gem of a house. Great location. Amazing view from the upstairs room”
Reviewed 2 February 2016 for a stay in January 2016

The location of this place is perfect. There is a small ring road surrounding Uzès’ pretty town centre and you really want to be within that ring road as it’s where all the picturesque sites and nice restaurants and cafes are. We arrived late so we went to the first restaurant (literally 10 seconds from the house) and it’s really nice to have so much on your doorstep.

Although it’s not huge, because the house is on 4 levels you feel like each space is separate. My favourite is the top floor kitchen where you can have breakfast basking in the sun with view of the castle / fortress. Also perfect for reading a book in the evening whilst the sun goes down.
The lounge was another one of my favourite room for relaxing in the evening or watching a film on the sofa. The sofa is huge and can be extended so you can rest your legs on it.
Downstairs is the bathroom / utility room. It’s a bit dark so you really just use it for storing stuff or showering.
Only downside with the flat is that you have to go and up a fair bit but we didn’t mind that and unless you have problems going up stairs it shouldn’t be a problem.

Alex was easy to deal with and replied to all messages almost instantly. He also left lots of useful info at the flat. We wanted to cycle to Pont du Gard and he gave us details of a reliable bike rental company. He also told us about a flea market happening the day after we got there. We didn’t ask for anything so we really felt he was going the extra mile as the flea market is not on every day and had he not told us, we would have missed it.
The price was very good considering how charming Uzes is. We stayed in Marseille, Avignon and in the Baux and we paid considerably more for places that aren’t as nice so we were glad we went off the beaten path in a way as Uzes is less on the tourist map.

“Charming stay in Uzes”
Reviewed 17 January 2016 for a stay in October 2015

I had a really great time staying at this space in beautiful Uzès and plan to return for an extended period. It’s definitely good value for money and I appreciated the host’s welcome package and the fact that he was always on call if I had questions or needed advice for my stay in the region. The house is well-designed and full of atmosphere and character, and I would definitely recommend it for singles or couples looking for romantic time away, or for someone looking for peace, quiet, and inspiration to work.

“Great location close to everything”
Reviewed 25 September 2015 for a stay in September 2015

Glad the research paid off in choosing Alexanders apartment. He has supplied all the necessary info on making the most of your stay in Uzes and once we got used to the layout of the apartment (one room per floor) really enjoyed our stay here. Although touristy to an extent very quiet at night lots of nice cafes and restaurants easy walking the town. Not having a car no issue about a 10 min walk with a case each to apartment and easy and cheap (€1.60) to catch buses to Avignon or Nimes stations or visit Pont Du Gard.
Just getting into the groove here after nearly a week and time to leave soon. Alexander very quick to resond to any queries to make stay here very enjoyable.
