Ancient townhouse, stone cobbled floors, spiralled staircase, artworks, flowers, big beds, soft cotton sheets, dappled sunlit garden, fresh swimming pool, boxed hedges....aesthetically, one of the most beautiful homes we've been welcomed into.

As for breakfast, each room had its own table set up outside on the lawn in the morning: white linen, fresh pastries, greek yoghurt, fresh iced mango coulis, home baked cakes, muffins, watermelon and fresh fruit on skewers, coffees and teas, fresh juices. When sunbathing on the lawn - a selection of iced drinks were brought over to us with fresh fluffy towels.

You simply couldn't ask for more. It is situated centrally: so yes, can be a little noisy, particularly on market days - rather than complain, sling open your shutters and enjoy the hustle, bustle and commotion of the old town. Simply excellent, thank you.

Our recent stay in the beautiful town of Uzes was made more memorable by our four nights at Maison de la Bourgade. We found the atmosphere at this charming B&B both welcoming and relaxing, and our hosts Elisabeth and Francois most helpful with advice on local restaurants and places of interest. We also thoroughly enjoyed their company, particularly our evening pre dinner drinks in the garden with our fellow guests.
Our accommodation was both comfortable and clean, and perfectly adequate for the very reasonable rate charged, although at our stage of life, we could have done without stairs and luggage! A minor inconvenience!
The breakfast served in the garden was delicious, with fresh fruit and pastries, and and the
best home made jams I have tasted since my mothers'!
We arrived by car and had no trouble our way to La Maison, and were more than happy to pay for secure off street parking.
Our last night in Uzes was spent dining at a delightful restaurant suggested by our hosts, which was a little out of town. This was not the slightest problem however, as Francois gave us a driven escort before returning to his own dinner date with Elisabeth and friends.
All in all, our stay was a complete pleasure, and we look forward to able to make our way back to Uzes and La Maison de la Bourgade.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the pool and garden would be preferable

We've stayed at several charming B&Bs in France in the past few years, but this one did not impress us. Yes, the building is ancient and therefore impressive; but our room was at the front, right on the street, and it was noisy. When making our reservation, I checked and was assured there would be a hair dryer in the room. Of course, there was not. We had to make several trips downstairs to get one, and the owners weren't around and had to be contacted, making for lots of frustration and wasted effort. The bathroom had a liquid soap dispenser with about 1/4" of soap in it, and this was to be our supply of soap for three days. There was one roll of toilet paper in the bathroom, and we had to ask for that. The pool is very small and unheated, meaning we could not use it. If you just sit in a small pool like that, you freeze. Perhaps they have too many rooms and guests to attend to, we couldn't really understand it; but we wouldn't recommend this B&B. Elizabeth is rather brusque and seems to rule with an iron fist. We left a door to what we thought was a public entrance open, and she became extremely upset with us, telling us rather rudely that it should not happen again or something like that. No one had told us to make sure it was locked. Other B&Bs in France have been warm and welcoming, with the owners trying their best to make us feel at home. We did not get that feeling here and certainly will not return.

Room Tip: Find a friendly place.

We stayed here for 2 nights and were delighted with everything. Elizabeth was charming and most helpful and she runs a very professional and welcoming B&B. It is obvious that she has given so much care and attention to every little detail - the decor, the food, the bedrooms. The first morning we had a shared breakfast in the family kitchen - very convivial. The second morning she had set up a table for us in the garden and that was equally delightful. The breakfasts were amongst the best we've ever had, with beautifully prepared fruits, home made crepes, lovely breads and cake, home made preserves, etc, etc. It was real a joy to start the day with such gentle pampering! Our room (Emily) was up a separate staircase and was quiet and adequately sized. The only drawback was our initial access by car - a map on the website with directions on how to reach the car park would be useful.

The main house is lovely with a beautiful garden. If the weather is good and you can sit outside by the pool it is perfect. The b & b is convenient for walking into town and Elisabeth makes good recommendations on where to eat.
On the down side, the room (city not garden view) was noisy and the window shutters were being repaired so we were ordered not to open the windows. The rooms are stylish rather than comfortable and no amenities are provided (shampoo etc). You pay extra for parking.
At the moment there are major works happening in the street and you have to drive the wrong way up a one way street to find the place - it would have been helpful to have information on travel in advance.

We stayed in this b&b for one night and we enjoyed it.
Our room was called Florence and was on the second floor, was very nicely and uniquely decorated, clean and fairly big. The only small negative point was the spiral staircase which could do with a bit of a nicer decoaration and no TV (we never watch it anyway, but it might be important to some people).
The location is perfect with about 5 minute's walk to the main square. Breakfast was nice and served out in the garden which we really enjoyed. The landlady was friendly and gave us some good tips about what to do (you should visit the medieval herb garden as you can climb the tower and the view from there is absolutely breathtaking).
We can definitely recomend this place.

Maison de la Bourgade is a beautiful, peaceful place to stay, made even more lovely by the wonderful hospitality of Elisabeth and Francois. They could not have been more gracious and accommodating in welcoming us and making sure that our stay was as pleasant as possible. Our room, the Arthur, was clean, spacious and comfortable and it was lovely to spend the hot afternoons in the beautiful garden by the pool. The breakfast served each morning was delicious (wonderful jams, homemade crepes, etc) and the hotel is right next to the main square in Uzes, making it a convenient location for exploring the town. There is also a private parking garage next door to the hotel, very useful if you've hired a car to explore the region. Overall we found it to be an absolutely lovely, tranquil place to be and were very sad to go...we can't wait to stay there again.
