“Central location but difficult to access”

The hotel entrance from the Rue Carnot is most unprepossessing. You have to park temporarily on a designated delivery spot, get out of your car and ring for the hotel entrance door to be opened, go up in a lift to the next floor to reach the reception desk. After checking in, you have to go back to your car, bring your luggage up and leave it at reception, then drive round the block and park the car and walk back to the hotel. There is no arrangement with the car park for hotel guests, and it costs €10 per night. All of the above does not make for an easy check-in.

The hotel rooms are very good, the separate toilet and bathroom were spotlessly clean, and the shower has the most sprays and taps that I have ever seen!

The breakfast was very good, there was free wi-fi and the service by all the staff was excellent. The only other thing I think that the reception staff should be more knowledgeable about, is the location of all the museums and places of interest in Limoges, and be better informed about the public transport system.

Very nice Mercure with rooms completely renovated. Modern and comfortable with all amenities of a 4 star Hotel. The staff very gentle and professional. The entrance from the back door is not very good. Try to come to the Hotel by the main square of Limoges. Walking distance for all restaurants in Limoges. The France next to Hotel is good choice if you don’t want to go far.

This was our first experience of a Mercure hotel and we were very pleased with it. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful, the rooms are large and well appointed. It is certainly worth paying the extra for an upgrade to a room overlooking the square. The buffet breakfast is one of best we have experienced relative to its cost. Just one criticism: there was no shower curtain or screen in our bathroom and it was impossible to have a shower without drowning the floor, therefore tricky getting out.

Room Tip: Pay for an upgrade to a room overlooking the square.

Stayed at the Mecure in Limoges again on 2nd July 2014. Very happy to say: same warm welcome, same stunning room and the staff couldn't be more friendly. Excellent choice for a night or a week. Well done Mecure and thank you.

Room Tip: Rooms over looking the town square have a balcony and a great view.

Just arrived home from a three night stay at the mercury limoges. The hotel, staff and cleanliness were all good. We stayed in a superior room overlooking the square and it was nice with a lovely bathroom with bath and shower. Breakfast in the hotel was good. No complaints about the hotel at all and would recommend especially at the deal price we paid but..... Do NOT eat at their restaurant (which is adjoining to the left of the hotel). We had Brandade de Morue (fish pie). It was the worst meal I've ever not eaten. 3 half inch cubes of chewy fish at the bottom of a bowl full of flowery, tasteless dry potato. Simply indelible, I complained but they were not at all interested and still charged us the full price which we were stupid enough to pay. We took our complaint to the hotel receptionist (the manager wasn't there and we were leaving the next morning) who tried to get us a refund but the restaurant wouldn't reimburse. Lesson learnt.

No hesitation in recommending this hotel. The staff were very helpful and friendly, nothing too much trouble. The hotel is clean, bright and modern, room was large, fabulous shower, tea and coffee making facilities, comfortable bed, quiet location. And on opening the electric shutters in the morning you can see the sun rise over Limoges which was a lovely start to the day. Perfect hotel for a stopover. We used the bar in the evening which was open until midnight but didn't have breakfast, just a coffee in the lobby in the morning. The hotel is perfectly situated for restaurants and bars and there are many to choose from.
