Chateau de Saint-Antoine really does have the wow factor on arrival. And Natalie is an excellent host - friendly and helpful. However the house is quite run down and grubby (The room rate was relatively expensive for a B&B so we thought it would be of a very good standard).
Being able to use the kitchen to prepare our dinner was, we thought, such a good thing to offer. But unfortunately it was necessary to wash everything before you used it. It was quite cluttered and grubby. Perhaps Natalie is fed up with clearing up after inconsiderate guests. If this is the case, then maybe she should withdraw this facility. However, there are no credible restaurants close by, so perhaps this is why it has to be offered. The A20 highway is close by, so the centre of Limoges is only 15 minutes away so well worth the trip for a decent dinner.
Having paid a 4* price for the room (actually a suite) one would expect a clean and tidy room and a good bed. However, the bed was a small double, the mattress was uncomfortable, and the sheets were cheap, thin and stained. We (stupidly?) looked under the bottom sheet and saw that the mattress protector was also stained and covered in an assortment of hairs - yuk!
I sat on the sofa and my skirt ended up being covered with dog hairs?? The bathroom was smelly and altogether did not feel clean.
Shame, because it could be so nice here!
